But it wasn't 'regardless'. It was the holy roman empire picking the date of an already celebrated festival. You seem to think all these dates, generally following nature, were picked by the Rman men in dresses.

So why cant the non religious majority not celebrate the existing event?
Any other decisions of 2,000 years ago that bother you?
Perhaps you would like to change the name of the months of the year or days of the week?

If Romans were hanging around telling us we couldn't or shouldn't celebrate Jan 1st because we didn't believe in the God Janus then you'd have an interesting point of comparison. I take it you don't use any of those heathen names.

Im not bothered because I understand it and have reconciled to it.

You are the one in la la land. Unless you believe in Roman Gods, you shouldn't use weekday names.

There is a slight difference, nobody makes money out of the names of the week. I like Kinky Friedman's comment " We Jews believe it was Santa Claus who murdered Jesus Christ"

Nobody makes money out New Year? You're joking, right?

Despite plenty of evidence of the danger the defenceless little children were in from the clerics of that religion. Just another building where people learn how to be deferent to a load of chancers in robes. Like a sort of global King's Inn.
Leave it to Catholics to decide where their children will be safest. Keeping them out of the clutches of anti-Catholics is an obvious first step.

Now you mention it, we should move June and July to the end of the year thereby allowing September, October, November and December to return to their proper and logical place in the calender.

[SUP]Ts & Cs apply: Offer does not include right to vote for changing school patron.[/SUP]
He hasnt a clue. He believes the 96% of schools in question are owned and funded by the church who should have total power over them. Been told this, refuses to listen.

Ah glanshane is back, the scent of atheists drawing him like blood to a shark.

Do what you want with your own children, on your own dime. I honestly could't care less beyond that!
Does that mean that you do not want to admit that you are involved in a plot to get power over the defenceless little children of Catholics? Why do you want power over Catholics?

History will record a time where in Ireland children could not receive a local education without being initiated and confirmed into a mythical belief system.
Are you referring to the Penal Laws under which it was a crime to educate a Catholic?

How hard is it to understand? some of us don't want anything to do with your sky cake.
How hard is it for YOU to understand that many Catholics do not want their children to fall into the clutches of anti-Catholics? Please respect diversity and the right of Catholics to keep their children safe from you and the likes of you.

Mm. Keep them in the bosom of that particular mediterranean cult and make sure they are safe by surrounding them with priests and nuns.

Should work out.

Why are you passing any judgement on the decisions parents take in regard to the safety of their children? Please mind your manners.

You literally could not get to the bottom of how distorted the thinking was, thanks to the religious stranglehold on education.
When you and all other secularists have established a network of secular schools, there will no longer be a "religious stranglehold on education." Please put up or shut up.
