The Israelis have just assasinated Ahmad Jaabari, the man who personally negotiated the prisoner swap last year with Israel. It seems to be the polar opposite of the policy of de-escalation which Israel said it would follow.

Hamas will, no doubt, see it as a declaration of war, so there will be plenty of rockets heading into Southern Israel tonight and for the Egyptians, a big test, to see how they respond to what may be the first large scale military operation in Gaza since the Brotherhood took over.

It's clear that Israel is looking for another 'war'.

They haven't the cojones to take on Iran, but will try to look macho ordering air strikes in a besieged territory.

So the military commander of hamas is now dead. That's what happens when you target Israel with hundreds of rocket attacks in the last few weeks

Israel has declared this is only the beginning of an operation which is much wider in nature and that they will continue to target Hamas in the immediate future.

There will be serious escalation on both sides, and I suspect that it will result in Israel launching a ground incursion.

EDIT: Hamas have announced that there will be serious repercussions for Israel following this attack.

Pathetic, all within the first page of a thread.

Have you no idea of how this will affect the vulnerable people on both sides of the Gaza border, more so the Palestinian side. The IDF don't always get the 'bad guys', more often than not children get shot in the head, like Abu Ahmed Dagah, a 12-year-old Palestinian boy playing soccer near the site of the skirmish, who was shot and killed by Israeli gunfire a matter of days ago.

Not if you're trying to provoke a war, which is common Israeli practice.
What a weird attitude you have. Hamas and other terror groups have been launching hundreds of rockets at Israel over the last few weeks. Israel responds and kills the Hamas 'military commander' and you see this as Israel trying to provoke a war. Still you are in similar company. Hamas and islamic Jihad have said, in response to the death, that Israel has declared war on Gaza. What gets me is just what were the hundreds of rocket attacks against Israel a declaration of? Ain't it a funny old world indeed
