If Gay Penguins can exist, then how can being gay be called 'unnatural' ?

Scientists in Denmark have managed to get a couple of gay penguins to successfully adopt an egg and raise their adopted young. Gay penguins do also exist in the wild.
So where does this evidence leave the leaders of various religions/ideologies who persecute gays and label their behaviour 'unnatural' ?
Any thoughts, comments, observations ? Please keep the discussion polite and respectful, at all times.

I blame the penguins' parents.

To be honest I don't need the example of penguins to accept that homosexuality is natural. Nor do I need a study like this to dismiss the awfulness of bigoted numbskulls.

It seems to be a complete waste of money. But if the chick dies young there will be a few idiots who will rely on it as proof to support their bigotry. Anyone who still thinks homosexuality is unnatural can be easily dismissed as a fool and there would be little point in arguing with them.

Penguins do strange things, like the males stand still in pitch darkness, fasting for 40 days and forty nights (or whatever) until the mums come home fattened with food for the family. The hatching egg must remain on top of the male's feet protected by an overlay of stomach in order for it to survive the below freezing cold. Sometimes they don't so some males put pretend eggs of ice on their feet and some of them steal the eggs from other males. And some females steal someone else's young after they return home and there is no little bird of their own to tend.

Antarctica is a pretty boring place really, just lots of snow and tons of penguin poo. The only excitement for penguins (other than the arrival of food and newly hatched chicks) is when they plunge into the ocean and risk getting eaten themselves by seals, sharks etc.

Male penguins have also been observed rutting dead female penguins. I don't know about males rutting each other, but I would not be surprised.

So do you really think that penguins are a good comparison with humans and human lifestyle?

[sub] As an aside, cane toads have been observed rutting potatoes, but I haven't heard whether there is male-male and female-female rutting. Has anyone said that some cane toads are homosexual, therefore it is natural for humans to be homosexual too?[/sub]

Zookeepers doing 'experiments' are not scientists and Danish zoos are not the natural environment of penguins.

If you read the story, the environment and behaviour appear quite dysfunctional. It's actually rather sad:

The two male penguins, who were broody to the point that they sat on dead herrings due to a lack of an egg, assumed the egg-caring duties after the biological mother discarded her egg.

The female penguin in question had laid two eggs with two different fathers during the breeding period, a rare occurrence in emperor penguins.

She left the father of the first egg to sit on the egg alone, before abandoning the father of the second egg as well, leaving Odense Zoo with a unique problem.

“It’s very rare that female emperor penguins lay two eggs over one breeding season,” Nina Christensen, a zoologist at Odense Zoo, told Ekstra Bladet tabloid. “Normally, they lay two eggs over three seasons, so she is extremely productive. But she just doesn’t want to hatch the eggs or raise the chicks.”

The zookeepers let the gay penguin couple adopt the egg after first giving them a fake egg to practise with during a trial period.

The two males were up to the task because the egg hatched and they are now taking good care of the little fledgling, which appears to be growing normally.

Emperor penguins rely heavily on their partners during the egg-sitting period, during which they place the egg on top of their feet before lowering themselves on top of it to keep it warm. Meanwhile, the other parent is charged with finding food before they switch places.

The solitary male that was first abandoned by the female is raising that egg alone, but can only do so because he is fed by the zoo staff, who now know what to do with abandoned eggs in the future.
And it's a mockery of all that Morgan Freeman ordained.

But who produced the egg in the first place? Where is the mother penguin? In a sense all penguins are gay as the menfolk do their thing together in the middle of winter, huddled together against the cold and protecting their egg while the females are out getting fat.

Does any human society do the same?

My neighbours had two gay dogs, sooty and sweep liked nothing better than giving each other a bone. Two wonderful family pets.
