There are currently 158 seats in the Dail. The FFGLAB block have 101 seats. The remainder have 57 seats out of which SF have 23.

A government needs 79 seats to form a government (plus the casting vote of the Ceann Comhairle).

SF needs to win an additional 56 seats to win government on its own. FF needs to win an additional 35 seats to win government on it own. The non FFGLAB block needs to win 22 seats to form a government which would be comprised of SF, the Greens, the rag tag left and independents. None of these scenarios is likely to happen.

What is likely to happen is that FF and SF will increase their vote. FF/SF currently have 67 seats between. They only need 12 seats to form a government. There is absolutely no way that FF will let FG back into Government for a third term in a row. FF TDs will shaft Michel Martin before they allow that to happen.

My money is on a FF/SF coalition in 2018 with or without Gerry Adams.

FFG will continue as they are, a FFail or blueshirt minority government will be the result of the next election.
Paddy is afraid of change and there's too much corruption in FFG for Paddy to face up to.

FF will not win an additional 35 seats to form a government on their own so they will need a coalition partner and that partner will be SF.

Fianna Fail would do a deal with ISIS if it meant they got more power.

Remember Fianna Fail is the party with no political ideology other than getting in power and staying in power.

Suited-scumbags of the highest order.

Yes, if you earn over €100g, but you know what, people who are doing well should be patriotic enough to accept that :)

Poor FFail though, it must be so embarrassing for the 'soldiers of destiny' to be enabling the blueshirts in government...
They've facilitated the election of 2 blueshirt taoisigh now.....
Ouch!

Edit: Mind you, FFail scum don't do embarrassment!

with Adams standing aside to be replaced by ex FFer Mary Lou, such a deal is quite possible,if not probable.

possible,
but more likely I think, will be another FF/FG arrangement, or whatever you want to call it.
there is practically no difference now, between FF & FG.

The deal is already in place with the FFG backroom boyo's and the bankers.
An FFG minority government is guaranteed.
Pity they haven't the balls to form an actual coalition, or merge.

It's entirely possible I suspect but the question remains would SF do a deal with FF?

Considering FF's history of chewing up and spitting out smaller coalition partners SF would be somewhat foolish to do a deal with them. For lots of reasons.

Why are ye forgetting that poor SF won't enter govt in the 26?
What's wrong with ye?
A vote for poor SF is a wasted vote.

Why haven't poor SF "the balls" to enter govt in the 26?

SF have never been in govt in the 26.
Some record, isn't it!

Have you a voting preference yourself?
Are you ashamed to tell us?
This will be fun!

And? FF and FG have never been in govt in the 32. What's your point?

SF are, by votes alone, the second largest political party on the island of Ireland. Clearly huge numbers of people don't believe they're wasting their vote. And that number is growing... thanks, in no small part, to eejits like you spouting the same shinnermonster shyte over and over again.

Voters have checked under their beds. They didn't find shinners... they found a gaggling bunch of bankers, developers and landlords there (along with their FF and FG enablers) who upon discovery stared innocently back, pointed over there, and said "SF!"

It's that simple, even for you!
