There has been much talk lately along the lines of the Europeans is coming, the Europeans are telling us what to do etc.

In the main Ireland and other EU countries are sovereign states and not regions of a superpower. A significant reason for this is that the Court of Justice interprets the Treaties in a manner that favours autonomy.

The Treaty based approach is an advanced constitutional order but it is not the same thing as being "taken over".

Thanks for your opinion. Please explain why you hold it in the face of so much evidence contradictory to it, and no evidence supporting it.

The member states may be sovereign but the political parties who form the governments of those states are not. It's pretty clear that majority of the professional politicians of those parties have sold out to the EU.

Autonomy is dead and sovereignty with it. Not because of any treaty but because of two people. Bertie Ahern and his last Minister For Finance.
