That's not a typo folks.

The Human Resource ministry of India has announced a laptop/tablet device that will only cost 1,500 Rand (which at the moment is just shy of €25), which is three times higher than they had initialy thought the device would cost.

The device, no bigger than a conventional laptop, is a single unit system with a touch screen and a built in key board along with a 2 GB RAM memory, wi-fi connectivity, USB port and powered by a 2-watt system to suit poor power supply areas.

I think you're getting your currencies mixed up. 1,500 rand would be around €155.

The Indian tablet computer will cost 1,500 rupees - which comes to around €24. That's just a little more than the cheapest mobile phone.

Great idea.:)

They made a similar announcement last year (or thereabouts). Let's hope this will materialise.
