75 years after Hitler annexed country, poll reveals worrying views about banned party
As Austria prepares to mark the anniversary of its annexation by Nazi Germany, an opinion poll has shown that more than half of the population think it highly likely that the Nazis would be elected if they were readmitted as a party.

Was once not enough for these guys?

Last time I was in Austria a few years back they were very embarrassed about Hitler & WW2...

What is going on in Europe?

If you think about it, many people here would vote for a "nationalist" party(any party thats anti-eu at the moment) that has the working peoples interests at heart. Its this that has got voter traction at the moment in places like Greece and Italy.

Spose it explains the swing towards Sinn Fein (even if they are not actually a nationalist party but internationalist socialists).

The employers of Ian O'Doherty prove that they are his employers.

Adolf Hitler
Ernst Kaltenbrunner
Arthur Seyss-Inquart
Odilo Globocnik
Amon Göth
Lothar Rendulic
Alfred Ritter von Hubicki
Alexander Löhr
Franz Böhme
Otto Skorzeny
Julius Ringel
Adolf Eichmann
Erhard Raus
Hans Fischböck

I travel to Austria quite often and have friends in several parts of the country.

The claim that over half of Austrians would vote for the nazi party in Austria is beyond insane. It is completely and utterly ridiculous. Today most Austrians would take an active stand against the Nazi party.

There clearly is an anti-Austrian agenda behind this story from who is either misinformed to misinformed beyond reason or who has just completely fabricated the story.

West Germany and Austria were never properly purged of nazis after WW2. At least 100,000 should have been sentenced and hung at Nuremburg. Many former nazis including SS officers were rehabilitated and became influential figures in society (look up Hanns-Martin Schleyer). The Americans were keen to rehabilitate former nazis in West Germany as they needed them as allies in the cold war.
