Will you march against the Russian occupation of Crimea ? Will you march against the dictatorship in North Korea ? Will you march against the "parasite tax" in Belarus ?'On the 1st of May, millions will march all over the world. In every country (besides those where workers actually hold power!) there is a struggle. This struggle is waged by the workers, by the trade unions that represent them and by the political parties they vote for.
It is a struggle between homelessness and housing.
A struggle between being able to feed ones family or sacrifice basic needs to eat.
To pay for water or to see your state provide it.
In some countries this struggle is even more intense. Places like Palestine, Syria, Yemen, Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya have seen almost never ending war for the last 30 and even longer years. Yet workers will march.
In Cork we will march.
We will march against water charges.
We will march against the systemic corruption brought to us by the establishment forces - be they Fianna Fail, Fine Gael, the Labour Party, the Green Party or more.
We will march against the contracts given to young people, stripping them of all opportunities and rights in the workplace.
We will march against the war being waged against OUR bus workers.
We will march against the continued role of the Church in the affairs of society in Ireland.
But we're not just marching 'against' everything, we're marching for something as well. We are marching for a better, brighter future. A different republic as one of the foremost revolutionaries in Ireland envisioned. We are marching for hope, liberty and freedom.'
