The far right has attempted to ape the language and tactics of civil rights movements to push their illiberal agenda. They're now beginning to eat themselves.

The Wolfenstein series of video games has always been about murdering hordes of Nazis, but with its reboot has begun to develop an elaborate alternate history. The second game since the reboot, takes place in the US post Nazi invasion. The game is all about the protagonist captain generic lead killing hordes of nazis.

Internet Nazis, alt-righters, and youtube ranters are outraged.

When will the crazy political correctness of the alt-right end? How dare they try to end my right to kill Nazis in video games!

It is not the Far Right that worries me, it is the Fer Left who are far far more censorious.

contrast , the regressives have a habit of going after people's jobs, getting companies closed down and what not.
the other one I saw was some being annoyed that "pepe" is banned form Apple store but you can buy games where you can punch Trump to death.

Complaining about the censorship of a cartoon frog on a private platform or the the killing of fictional nazis in a sci-fi setting while people in the ranks of the groups you are so ready to defend, are carrying out terrorist attacks is pretty reprehensible. But damn those lefties!

Did Antifa shoot up a church or something like Dylan Roof? I like to think I follow the news, but I guess I missed the report where Antifa killed 6 in a Mosque in Quebec like Alexandre Bissonnette . Did Antifa kill an MP like Thomas Mair?

You really should have just dealt with the subject matter of the OP and not brought up this whataboutery, this defence of the far right is reflecting very poorly on you.

who is defending the far right I'm not, as far as I can see there is nothing organised, the Pulse club murders alone will soak up anything you can care to bring up if you want to keep score. Antifa while being a bunch of losers look like there is some organisation and funding behind them so why are you so sure things wont escalate?

The politicisation of video games where you can only play as the GI killing the Muslims (of course, terrorists as they are portrayed) or the Russians etc is pre-existent. Washington DC would seek to intervene if it was reversed, it would be classed as giving succor to terrorism - even though the US is the major font of all forms of terrorism in the Middle East.

I think it would be interesting if say for example we could play as an Iraqi resistance cell or a Palestinian or a Serbian or as any of the peoples blacklisted as bad guys through and through in Western politics and see their narrative. But of course that would be received as dynamite.

Ah, the online presence of the alt-right.

Invariably gamers, sad 4chan losers, fat, neckbeard virgin "mens-rights" activists who live with their mothers. Literally the most pathetic people in existence. It's hilarious when a one of these sad f*cks convinces themselves that spending 23hrs a day online with other autistic losers has given them the political nous to discuss solutions to the middle east.

The statistics say otherwise: source

So it's clear now that these comments about the left being worst, was whataboutery and not a legitimate contrast. To take it as a contrast would mean you're defending the far right.

I don't think there's politicisation, more a conservatism, stuck in a formula. They fear alienating gamers if they were experimental. At least AAA games, plenty indie titles attempting to challenge that narrative.

I think Socialist or Left wing Monarchists such as you find particularly in Russia but also in France today deserve the title "Regressive Left" or "Reactionary Left" much more than the Yankee SJWs and the German "Anti-Germans" along with their pale imitations on the Atlantic Isles do. I would consider myself a Reactionary Leftist though I get labelled "Alt-Right" by morons, Libtards and moronic Libtards. General Boulanger and Georges Sorel are two of political heroes- and even though the latter identified as a Marxist both would be seen as Proto-Fascist by Mercurial's school of thought.

I remember a game called Command and Conquer from the 90s. It was set in the future and there was a global terror cell / cult like movement called Sons of Nod led by a villainous looking fellow called Kane. In it there were missions were you could play from either his point of view or the West's point of view. If you played in his POV the ending involved you destroying a major landmark in the West, the Houses of Parliament in London or the White House etc - it was accompanied by video clips showing him laughing maniacally and praising you while you see the buildings explode. It was total freedom without political concerns and it was great fun - it was also one of the first games to make a huge deal out of videod cut scenes with actors advancing the story.

You couldn't make a game like that today. You would only be allowed to play as the GI, SAS etc 'hero' bringing it down and that says a lot about the infiltration of politics into the games world over the years and also about the changes in the world itself.

Be honest, you didn't bother reading the thread, did you?

Remove the word 'liberal' and you are on the right path.
