This term generation is used alot. What do the punditocracy mean by it? Generally it means 20 years but it seems to me that they mean more like 5.

Generation:
–noun
1. the entire body of individuals born and living at about the same time: the postwar generation.
2. the term of years, roughly 30 among human beings, accepted as the average period between the birth of parents and the birth of their offspring.
3. a group of individuals, most of whom are the same approximate age, having similar ideas, problems, attitudes, etc. Compare Beat Generation, Lost Generation. Source: Generation | Define Generation at Dictionary.com

It will take at least 10 to 15 years to recover from this, probably 15. Therefore if a couple had a child today it would be only a few years away from the workforce by the time we are out of this. So it will take a generation to recover.

What do you mean 'recover' a return to 2006 -2007 standards? Fiscal stability? Jobs?
