Russia:

Interfered with US elections
Used Nerve agent in the UK

So why do we think we are secure ? The expansion to their embassy in Dublin is causing concern, and the Gardaí seem pretty sure that some of the "diplomats" are spooks

Obvious targets in Ireland would be the tens of thousands working for US tech companies (Facebook, Google , LinkedIn etc)

RTE - Ambassador says expulsion of diplomats would be 'unfriendly' act
Irish Times - Gardaí fear Russian interest in Ireland increasing due to US tech giants
Indo - Maeve Sheehan: Meanwhile, all is peaceful and above board at the Russian embassy in leafy Dublin 6

Well of course it makes sense for the Russian security services to use Ireland as a base, especially when they can get on a train to the north, hop on a ferry to Scotland and drive anywhere in the UK from there unobserved.

They'd be daft not to.

Let's face it Garda Joe isn't going to be much of a deterrent.

And if they did become annoying you'd only have to arrange a delivery of free booze via a grateful oil company and you could take out half the state's resources inside a couple of days.

Maybe you have memory issues but the State expelled a number of Israeli diplomats some years back following the identity theft of several Irish citizens.

Russia should close the Irish Embassy in Moscow as it is now clear we are just a colony once again and Varadkar is merely the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland ruling on behalf of Good Queen Tess.

You've obviously never seen the PSNI or Police Scotland check-points at the ferry ports.

Maybe you do as well, one diplomat was expelled for the Israeli state using Irish passports to murder a Hamas member.

Usually you get fan boys on here who've failed at getting jobs in a Western Society so take their hatred and jealousy out by supporting Russia, the international Troll of State relations, in order to justify their hatred of Western Society.

We would need to know a lot more about the alleged use of nerve agent and alleged interference in US elections before taking whatever actions are realistically possible.
But what would be far more realistic, is realising that get tough measures taken against oligarchs in other countries, such as the UK, demanding far greater information about their sources of wealth, will result in even more dodgy Russian operations setting up in Dublin's docks (IFSC), even more dodgy Russian money getting laundered through Dublin, so Leo should be calling in all the top lawyers, in Dublin for a chat, the very top lawyers, no need to mention names here, but lawyers already well known in government circles

No, if they're involved in dodgy stuff besides diplomatic work then they need to be booted out.

Do you not think that the Russians have done a fantastic job fighting Sunni terrorists in Syria ?
The Russians are merely protecting their foothold in Syria which was at threat. They have a base on the Med and want to keep it. They are essentially aiming to prop up Assad rather than some virtuous campaign aiming to stamp out Sunni militants.
