Shocking story emerging in the Irish language media this week. A story known by many in the Irish language community for a number of years. Details emerging this week showing the shocking extent of one man's abuse.

Domhnall O Lubhlai was a founding member of Colaiste na bhFiann, and it's reported by Irish Central that he was the presenter of a TV show on RTE. He died last month. He taught Irish in the ’70s, ’80s, and ’90s in Donegal and Dublin and was known at the time as “Donal Lovely”.

In 2000 O Lubhlai was charged with the molestation of 11 children. He faced 56 charges of sexual assault, buggery and attempted buggery. Five men testified that they had been abused at his Irish college, at the summer camp, in hotels, flats, and cinemas in Ros Muc, Athlone, Dublin, Donegal, and Tipperary. The trial collapsed.

It was believed that there may have been many other victims during his 30 years as a teacher. This week TG4 investigator Sorcha Ni Mhonachain has been reporting this story and interviewing men who have now come forward recounting their stories.

Was this man protected over the years? And by whom?

I'm watching it on News Now. There's a lady in the studio. Must be Sorcha the investigator from TG4

Went to priests and got "forgiven". Right.
The priests refused him though.

The Gardai pushed for trial. He got a judicial review which a Government Law Officer didn't block him apparently.

Much of what went on running up to the trial was most "unusual".

There are very very serious questions that need to be asked and investigated.

Coláiste na bhFiann was the Irish college of choice for senior SF figures' offspring in the early 70s. I won't name any of the SF family members who attended but quite a plethora of them were students there in Ros Muc. It was run on very regimented grounds with parades and lots of very 'patriotic' song singing etc.

It was the college of choice for many, from all walks of life and political backgrounds.

Rotton media,
The story has been around for some time. The case "collapsed". What happened there needs to be investigated. This man was only last year visiting schools promoting his book.

That story came out years ago.. Or at least there was rumours.. Didn't the case collapse?
O'Mongain said, as I posted above, it fell away due to a judicial view which apparently the state legal officer failed to block

shocking story about O Lovely. He used present a programme on RTE. First allegations were to Gael Linn about 1981, but nothing appears to have been done. He ran Coláiste na bFhiann in Connemara.

It seems his legal team got a judicial review of aa trial he was about to face. It also seems the DPP not answer it properly, so went scott free.

I recall going to jail " on principle" over a parking ticket or something like that.
