Believing that I have read all the postings on Ireland's Olympic ticket debacle on P.ie, I am hoping that the reach of our fellow poster's maybe able to help find the answers to these fundamental and very basic questions.

A). Ireland's total ticket allotment.

Mark Davis of the IOC 1000.

B). Face value of tickets. (I have no idea if there is a sliding scale, based on the event).

From Irish Central "In attendance were wealthy Brazilians who were buying tickets with $400 face value for $8,000."

C). Number in athlete's delegation with ancillary staff. Knowing that we have 77 athlete's

D). Olympic Council of Ireland delegation. Knowing that the Council is 12 people.

E). Athlete's ticket allowance.

From The Telegraph 22 August "Investigators arrived at the OCI's offices in the Olympic village and its accommodation outside the village early on Sunday morning, where they met staff preparing for the closing ceremony.

Officers searching for evidence seized the devices, as well as unused tickets that were part of the OCI's allocation for athletes' families."

Did not want to incorporate this in the bourgeoning thread of "Guardian reporting that Pat Hickey has been arrested in Rio" (1860 postings) as it would be lost. This information "should" be available. Thanks

It's a 3 card trick ...government ...with a few layers of private companies ...so it can't be FOI-ed, can't be investigated in almost any meaningful way

You'd need a whisteblower for the info you seek ...and whistleblowers ...well...they'd need to be very good at trade craft to get the info out ...it's not only the Moditariat who've read the Stasi manuals

The Sports Council of Ireland take your information request VERY seriously and below is the organisation's answer.

(a) enough to make a few bob

(b) Who cares ? 'we' don't pay anyway.

(c) only the necessary 100 or so*

(d) anyone on Council, their immediate family, friends, friends of friends, people that we want to suck up to.

(e) who ? Ticket allowance ?

* 'so' may be extended to include all those that have season tickets for the glory train (or just have lots of money)

Anybody with ears in recent years will know that all the sporting organizations have a potential explosion coming.

The prices for international rugby match tickets is astounding. Alright, rugby fans have more money than followers of the Grab All Assoc and the Fans Are Idiots. But the prices are simple ridiculous just to watch a bunch of apes follow a plastic peanut in the mud.

Just another example of no transparency, no accountability and no punitive consequences for those who should suffer punitive consequences.

How is this even allowed to happen FFS?

The Irish must be one the most apathetic populaces in the world.

The trick is to let people think that they are all in on a scam somewhere, FF knew that but FG just got greedy and wanted it all themselves.

The Irish Media are all over this like a measles outbreak.

The fact is that this sort of messing has been going on for years. And there was NO INVESTIGATIVE JOURNALISM FROM THE IRISH MEDIA.

The Brazilians investigated.

The cops here are sitting on a mountain of funny business and doing nothing.

No, it's the OCI's allotment. The OCI derives its authority from the International OC, not from "Ireland". The OCI's Irish company happens to get public money. It's a marathon-long chain from your tax payments to the OCI's lawyers.

I'll have to mark you down as a D.

Sports organisations face a real issue.
With pay for play practically all sports organisations have to generate income to sustain their playing structure. The main two ways to generate income is ticket sales and TV rights sales. Replica sports kit is another revenue stream.

The "fan" whether he's paying at the turnstile or watching on their TV or purchasing replica kit, ultimately pays to keep that structure in place and ticking over.

Sports organisations are gouging the sports fan dry.

A Business Model successfully developed and deployed over the years by the FFraudsters who put the country into penury. Yet their stalwarts and their offspring ride off into the sunset with their inflated Pensions, their Board positions and their proceeds of crime. A fine example set over the years by the Squire and his hangers on which has infested every orifice of 'official' Ireland.
