Why should we pay for other people's incompetent business decisions?

I suppose the Fianna Fáil workmen have to show that they are worth their hire(political donations)!

These debt clocks are shocking.

The UK's is here - UK National Debt Clock - No-nonsense Guide to Britain's Debt Crisis

Currently about £960,000,000,000.

Who's at the other end collecting all this interest??????????????

It's hard to imagine these things ever being paid to be honest.

Has democracy failed?
Bribing voters to win elections with money that people didn't have has caused chaos.

At the moment I'm trying to understand fractional reserve banking and how it works.

All or most of the money in the system actually appears to be a debt.

Do I have this correct?

Short answer, it doesn't really. ;)
From my limited knowledge it appears to be something of an incredible scam.

I can barely believe that I have it right. If I have understood it correctly then I fail to see why people aren't up in arms about it.

All this talk of national debt, well really it appears that money is just what has been embezzled from the people, and although we owe it, it never really existed in the first place. I can't have that right surely to God.

If only it was €90 billion :)

Bank bailout not included as payable over 10/15 years - off balance sheet
NAMA not included - off balance sheet
PS pension bill - €130 bilion not included :)

Our employment level will stabilise around 1.5 million.

That currently excluding the extra is €60,000 PER WORKER and growing.
Deficit next year will be €18 billion minimum to be added to national debt :(

Think of all the flashy weapons we could have got for 90 billion. Jets, long range missles, nuclear subs-the works. Nobody would mess with us then.

Indeed. What democracy? Thomas Ferguson's (prof in uMass) theory of party competition, shows how elections are mere investor extravaganzas for either side of capital.

We have the tweedledum and tweedledee representatives of the Bankers class as our spectrum of democratic choice.
Is there any surprise they're fleecing us for the next bailout?

This is how a free market works, the business dealers create a state to protect their interests and fund doing so by taxing the rest of us. In response to the majority attempting to introduce a modicum of civilising egalitarian democratic influence, they buy elections and restrict possible choices as much as possible.

+1

The real figure of General Government Debt is soaring towards €200 Billion.

ND net = €90 Billion
Add €20 Billion for commercial papers
Add €25 Billion loans from banks
Further recaps?
