Despite the fact that so called "national theatre" in not able to produce a play in the national language, Dubliners will not be without the ability to see Irish drama on the stage next week. Taibhdhearc na Gaillimhe and Dublin group TíAitreo are putting on Idir an Dhá Shuil by Aodh Ó Domhnaill all next week in the New Theatre, Essex Street, same building as Connolly Books.

So, while the Abbey squanders its 30 million euro budget on Oirishry gobshítery like Arragh na Pogue, others go about the serious work of building a genuine national theatre.
