The skipper of a County Down fishing vessel has appeared in court in the Republic after the Irish naval service detained his boat off the Galway coast.
So much for the claim that people from Northern Ireland are "just as Irish " as those from the Republic. You can play football for them, but don't be doing any fishing or wanting a vote for the President of "Ireland".

Any thoughts on the fact a "fellow Irish man" was arrested and taken to court for fishing in "Irish" waters? Is he not supposed to be as Irish as someone from Galway?

County Down is part of the UK as recognised by the majority of Irish people. I believe we had a referendum on our territorial claims to the north.

where does it say the man was irish or anyone was Irish on the boat? they should have sunk it and rescued the fishermen and the headline would be something like,"Irish navy saves drowning Brits"

In a statement on Tuesday, the Irish Defence Forces said: "There have been 206 vessels boarded by the naval service in 2013, six warnings were issued and this is the first vessel detained this year."
So of 206 vessels and 6 warnings the only one the imperialistic Irish oppessors take action against is the prod...

I don't think we are being told the full facts. As its stands, the story is confused; they can't even get the name of the boat right - it is N907 Arcane (not "Archane") and she is registered in Kilkeel. Perhaps the arrest was something to do with the quota system?

Unionists complaining but when their Zionist counterparts open fire and murder Palestine fisher men who fish in Palestine territory you be clapping seals or silent? The redundancy, hypocrisy and faux outrage of unionism exposed once more.
LOL. Feel free to post a link and open a thread on "unionist support for "Zionists murdering Palestinian fishermen" and we'll discuss it.

Come on GJ,"Irishman" arrested for fishing in "Irish" waters ,what do you think?

So you think we should have voted Martin McGuinness in as our President? Not only that, do you think we should have voted him in simply because he's from the north?

This is from the same guy who said Ulster players are being discriminated against in the Irish rugby team and then posted up a link to an Ulster fans blog where not one of the threads even mentioned it!

This guy gets funnier by the day!

You'll regularly see wes and simples 77 posting on the relevant section in defence of the most heinous war crimes perpetrated by Zionism. Unionist politicians and their constituency are always 100% behind any atrocity and action carried out by the IOF, and the Israeli flag flies in your communities, so to try and claim that I'm way off the mark is disingenuous.

As regards the OP, I think it's overblown. The fella should be allowed to go on his merry way unless he was poaching with a net for astronomical amounts of fish, but the faux outrage is that you lot are actually complaining that a 'foreign' state is enacting it's law and protecting it's 'border'

It'll be interesting to hear o'neill and SF's response to this.
Not a mention on perhaps the legality of the situation or as euryalus points out above, the quota system?

Are you just like the rest of 'em underneath it all, Castle Ray?
