So many people in Ireland liked to think the world was dead jealous of us - especially those dull, old-fashioned Krauts with their quaint notions of actually making stuff that people will pay good money for. Now, Ireland is the world's cautionary tale. I'm abroad right now and am watching as the international news channels such as BBC World headline with the Anglo-Irish story and carry live coverage of Brian Lenihan's interview.
