Anyone see the latest hit piece from the Indo Weekend Review yesterday mocking and lambasting the people from Stoke for daring to vote Leave. A very balanced report from Kim Bielenberg begins with a picture of a supposed typical "Leave voter" in a Stoke city jersey smoking a fag on the front page, probably found outside a pub or bookies. Guess his opinion is irrelevant so. He is laughed at because his favourite Stoke player is a foreigner, and told he will regret his decision. I must have missed voting out of the European Union means you hate foreign football players, but apparently that is now stated as fact. No chance they would find many of the many Leave voters in a suit to make a comment. Inside he finds a woman who states she believes "Alot of Leave voters are racists" after an argument at her childs birthday party on the referendum.

Honestly the bias was utterly sickening to read, I know this is the Indo, but has balanced reporting gone out the window. I know Bielenberg is a total gutter journalist, it's no surprise with his German roots he is in favour of the German superstate and Merkel dictatorship. Whats sad is how some "uninformed Paddys" with no knowledge of British politics will take this propaganda in as fact. Its sad to see this stuff, but then the Germans are famous for their media propaganda, its just they've moved forward with the times now. And we are their lapdogs in all this, cheerleading from the sidelines.

Germany is a democratic Federal Republic.

Merkel is the democratically elected Federal Chancellor.

You don't like her?

Build a bridge and get over it.

Fortunately the Irish mainstream media is hardly credible in Ireland never mind anywhere else.

Which is some comfort.

Merkel is a dictatorial nunt , that does things unilaterally within the EU and expects every other country to follow without objection , she is a nunt that wants austerity across europe because she thinks the Weimar inflation will happen which is daft , she has a short fooking memory.

If anyone has been shown to be anti democratic its Merkel, the EU, pro Remainers and their media shills! The British people voted democratically for Brexit, attacking Leave voters with media propaganda on their intelligence is disgusting to read.

Brexit has happened, its time you and your cohorts build a bridge and get over it!

If anyone doesn't understand how much of a dirty bomb in our economy Brexit is & the impact of the fallout on our politics and society they need look closer & think harder.
Brexit is driven by the right wing of the Tory party, Powellites & UKIPers, no friend of Ireland. They are almost orgasming at the thought of a hard international border running through Ireland & intra Irish trade & society crashing.

Just as the Tsar cared what the Skibereen Eagle thought about him, so will the Brits lose sleep over opinion pieces in the IT or Sindo.

Most of that is untrue , there is no consensus on what will happen next, it is the unknown even the next Prime Minister is not certain. Even if you believe that, why not give a balanced or intelligent account of the fallout? Why mock, demean and attack such a large amount of voters characters and intelligence, when there was perfectly legitimate reasons to vote Remain and Leave?

readers in ireland deserve better though don't they?

This state voted no in two european referendums. wasn't the end of the world. Media out put was probably similar. one lesson in it any way. can now take with a pinch of salt a lot of the pro brit output of the irish media in the last few years. Can turn on a dime.

The groupthink by the media, Irish media, as to their opposition to the outcome of the Brexit referendum is apparent.
It's blantant in fact.

My suggestion is that if people oppose the views expressed by the Irish Media, they need to exercise their own democratic choice by not purchasing the content produced by that media.

And the Irish churnalists do understand, M5?

I'm surprised that an informed a poster as you are is supporting the Irish Media groupthink.

Those poor Germans, with their free childcare, and universal medical insurance, and their full employment, and their pristine environment.

Syria of the north. For shame.

And their vasta mount of low paid wage slaves. Their hordes of pensioners on the breadline. Millions of undocumented immigrants. High taxes. Lack of freedom of speech and over mighty state. Not Syria but not the land of milk and honey either.

You haven't strengthened your point by using sexist abuse re Merkel.

She's no Nazi, just a democratic pol that you don't like.

Ask the Scots what their experience has been as a small nation in the British Union..

Over mighty German state???? Care to justify that.

The German Federal state is admirable in its devolution to the Lander..

And the impact on Ireland of a brexit or merely the currency fallout of speculation is hugely damaging, and inflicted with clearly no thought by the majority of the UK towards Ireland, a country who they have meddled in and with at great cost.

Many brits just don't get how pi$$ed off we are about their actions...

Poor aul Peter Suds Sutherland is all over twitter calling for a second referendum...his new found interest in the welfare of refugees is touching.

The Brits have a stronger sense of sovereignty and nation state as England as a concept dates back to the Hundred Years War.

Italy, Germany etc. are relatively newer nation states and fail to understand that the British value their sovereignty and pride of parliament, as further solidified by the Glorious Revolution and Civil War. Indeed, the brexit fault lines mirror the civil war cleavages, with Geldof and the europhile political class luvvies pitched against the proles.

There was no discernible racial motivation behind the vote. Concerns re immigration do not necessarily conflate with race as the high leave vote in many predominately non white areas showed. Scaremongering re the nhs etc, was a red herring.

Sovereignty and primacy of nation state was the issue.
