The Irish Times was a significant architect of the property bubble, going so far as to

(1) Let Brian Lucey shill for sub prime

Per this
Asset agency opponent defends subprime stance - Independent.ie
But it has emerged that he was hired to write a report for a mortgage services company that spoke of the potential for banks to expand their lending with "subprime mortgages".
See this article Dublin Opinion » Blog Archive » DR. BRIAN LUCEY, 2006: THERE IS LITTLE RISK OF A CATASTROPHIC FALL IN HOUSE PRICES

Also I recall other articles in the IT based on the above, see here

(2) A property porn supplement gushing in the effulgent words of the estate agents

(3) In their greed, they almost bankrupted the whole paper with the MyHome purchase
MyHome.ie sold to Irish Times for

Now...imagine my surprise ...Jack Fagan...chief of property porn during the bubble...is back in full swing...with effulgent praise of one Larry Goodman...speaking as though Goodman has done the nation some service with a property deal

Larry Goodman
Fully aware of the architectural importance of this bronze-clad office complex, Mr Goodman engaged the services of architects Scott Tallon Walker who had designed the original complex.

provide Grade A office accommodation of the highest modern standard to equal or surpass the finest developments in the market.

occupant comfort is the upgrading of the bronze curtain wall on all three blocks. About €20 alone was spent on renovating the façade, installing new high-performance glass, thermal insulation and modern draught and weather seals that will ensure a high performance building.
What chance has Ireland if the "quality" daily is like this still ?

Why would an honest politician even bother trying ?

Brian Lucey produced a quote about Anglo Irish Bank in 2006 that firmly categorises Brian Lucey as a first rate bullsh1te artist.

He is a bigger BS merchant than Dan McLaughlin in the w@nk of Ireland.

He deserves a rigourous public critique.

The Sh1te Rimes is not a quality daily.

It is designed to appear serious, & is loaded with pretension.

But the content amounts to serious misinformation. As exemplified in the property centred debt binge that it cheerled.

A propertypaper with a news supplement.

Once reputedly one of the top 5 dailies in Europe, would you believe. Decades ago admittedly.

LIke so much in Ireland: as soon as they started wildly overpaying themselves, they became hopelessly second-rate.

Comrade Fintan O'Toole , dines out still on the time when he reported from the Beef Tribunal

Obviously not dumb enough to be a beefman , no, this Celtic warrior of knowledge is a (smoked) salmon champagne socialist, and his patronage of An Taisce reaped wonderful dividends

Home improvement or crime scene? - Independent.ie

An Taisce branch 'thrown to the wolves' over planning objection

Nice for some to get planning permission that increases the value of one's holiday home

And of course Fintan is treated like Royalty by the Irish Times, where he's protected as editorial staff now...a fine angry shouter...who mysteriously fails to zing his targets...as Fintan shouts from the Ivory Towers ... investigations in the field are for plebs

But occasionally the likes of Peter Murtagh manages to slip pieces past Stephen "Varys" Collins who zealously guards the political patch for interlopers, who, heaven forfend might challenge the status quo

But Varys has many wannabe Sith Lords in his second line of defense , including the Moditariat of p.ie , who ruthlessly stifle as much as plausibly possible on [he who shall not be named]

Fintan's probably a nice fella but he's not a convincing opinion monger. He's clueless on the big issues facing the EU.

He doesn't do fieldwork , if a morsel of information isn't in earshot of the canapé at the cocktail party, Fintan won't find it

I created a thread a while back about oligarchy and the toxic impact it leaves on state policy, & the operation of many makets in Ireland.

It seems that the comic of record is not concerned about oligarch power in this country.

More property porn, unapologetically gushing out of all orifices of the Irish Times

Favourite houses of 2016 - writers

The same goons who cheered the property bubble...who almost ruined the Trust with their nonsensical acquisitions - e.g. MyHome

Per my OP they laud Larry Goodman. Irish Times "journalists" are extremely well paid , and not merely do they avoid upsetting the apple cart...many, e.g. Stephen Collins, are assets to the Golden Circlejerk

Orna Mulcahy was deputy chief of IT property porn during the bubble ... a shallow champagne socialist .... obsessed with status and material goods... hypocrisy would not even begin to describe her... she's now one of the managing editors

The Irish Times is the true cesspit of Ireland...as it creates the demand for an ostentatious lifestyle, that puts pressure on the golden circlejerk to keep doing sellouts

Solicitors, accountants etc know that they've to outwardly keep up with the IT Joneses ...else Orla's minions will see to their shame
