Stuff FF's plan and stuff their budget. It's not addressing anything, just attacking the poor. The interest payments alone on the bailout payments will five billion per annum. This is unmanageable. You do the maths. The poor shouldn't pay.

Send Paul Sommerville in immediately to negotiate a deal.

I think the Times calls it right though . January or February . Makes sense really . We are indeed in a sh!tstorm , elections before the new year would be insane .

I agree. Why don't the banks pay the interest on the loan?, it's they who need it. They're a business and we're just shareholders yes? Why should the shareholders pay the interest? I feel like we're being scammed pretty badly here.

Over and over you are being burdened with liabilities that should not be yours. I think the word scan dosen't come close to conveying the deliberate intent that some must have.

We know who the losers are, the question is who has gained?

Very pertinent question .
However ,we must move on , we must listen to the experts and do as we are told . Lets not play the blame game . You win some , you lose some , learn from the experience etc ....

Yes you have to move on, but to learn from experience you need to know exactly what went wrong and ensure that it never happens again.

Also with the sums involved I think it would be money well spent to have a few people looking closely at the actuality of what took place to ascertain if there are any irregularities.

The Irish Times also represents some of the well thinking elite, if it weren't for some bright heads such as Fintan O' Toole, it would just be an arrogant bubble paper.
The GE must take place before the end of December, otherwise they'll have too much to "order" their affairs. I wonder if some white smoke comes up at night through the chimneys from the documents being burned.petunia

The Traitors of Destiny will never walk easily.

Every patriotic irishman and irishwoman needs to get out on sat 27th to march on dublin in a show of strenght and national unity.

Now is the time to say we will not take it anymore.

That's all well and good, and we do need an election, but Stephen Collins might do well to ponder his beloved PDs' role in creating the casino that our economy became. He might also, in thinking about questions of sovereignty, ask himself how his own advocacy of usurpation of the expressed will of the people by the Dáil after Lisbon 1 on behalf of his favoured Euro-integration project fits into that...

Fortis in Belgium suffered same fate or even worse the AIB / BOI.

The Belgian government made it bankrupt then sold it to the french for 1 euro.

What them lads up in Dail Eireann or the finance dept do ill never know.

Get the budget out of the way and have an election in Q1 2011. It really doesn't matter which group of muppets are implementing the changes, the IMF are pulling he strings anyway, so it makes no difference. Different arses on cabinet chairs won't make a blind bit of diffeence but it will provide us with a useful diversion for a couple of months and a very cathartic kicking of FF.
