Is Sarkozy on his way back?

According to various news outlets on French TV he may well be.

He obtained an endorsement yesterday from Chirac's wife, and there appear to be growing calls for him to run in 2017.

What's frightening people is the possibility of a run-off in 2017 between Hollande and Marine le Pen. The left worry that they could lose that race, while the right fear that they could win it. This would consign the UMP to the sidelines as a right-wing force.

58 Million Frenchies to choose from....and they go looking for that clown to run the country.

Sarkozy just lost an election to a man Hollande. Hollande was described as a non-achiever (by the woman who spent the most time with him in his life).

The French centre-right need to find a more credible candidate than platform-shoes-man.

It's weird. They seem drawn to him as if he were some Clinton-figure.

His polls are looking very good for him.

FF on the rise, Berlusconi bouncing back - why not Sarkozy?
All that is missing now is for Phony Tony and Flash Gordon to tell the Brits that they are returning and the campaign is sponsored by RBOS.

Actually it is frigthening. It is like as if people are really desperate.

But we see the same thing here, with FFinished improving the poll numbers (according to the Sindo).

If he did run again and won he'd be the first French president to serve two non consecutive terms.

well holland only won by 3.3% last year against sarkozy and most french people were peeved off with sarko and his bling, bling lifestyle. As i predicted holland has been useless and like all socialists he will eventually run out of other peoples money. Saying that he'll be difficult to beat in 2017.

It is certain the french economy will continue to decay under Hollandes reign.

Sarkozy represents the worst of the faux nationalistic psuedo-conservative right who are pro business but anti working class. He is also a neo-con.

Hopefully the FN can get the working class on board in large numbers. 'Sarközy de Nagy-Bocsa' is basically a transnational aristocrat - no loyalty to france at all.

the national front are a bunch of economic illiterates who believe that you can just throw money at problems, they offer nothing but left wing economic populism and support an ultra generous welfare state.

Gaddafi was killed by French secret serviceman on orders of Nicolas Sarkozy, sources claim | Mail Online
The motive, according to well-placed sources in the North African country, was to stop Gaddafi being interrogated about his highly suspicious links with Sarkozy, who was President of France at the time.

Other former western leaders, including ex British Prime Minister Tony Blair, were also extremely close to Gaddafi, visiting him regularly and helping to facilitate multi-million pounds business deals.
Sarkozy, who once welcomed Gaddafi as a 'brother leader' during a state visit to Paris, was said to have received millions from the Libyan despot to fund his election campaign in 2007.

A United Nations mandate which sanctioned the attack expressly stated that the western allies could not interfere in the internal politics of the country.
Nicolas Sarkozy DID take $50 million of Muammar Gaddafi's cash, French judge is told - Europe - World - The Independent
President Nicolas Sarkozy took more than €50m from the late Libyan dictator, Muammar Gaddafi, a French judge has been told.

The claim, leaked today, was made just before Christmas by a Lebanese-born businessman, Ziad Takieddine, who has been a fixer for legal - and allegedly illegal - dealings between France and the Middle East for 20 years.

Expanding on claims already made by one of Mr Gaddafi’s sons and a French investigative website, Mr Takieddine told an investigative judge that he could show him written proof that Mr Sarkozy’s first presidential campaign in 2006-7 was “abundantly” financed by Tripoli. The payments, he said, continued after Mr Sarkozy became President.

In total, he said, they exceeded the €50m in illegal payments to Mr Sarkozy claimed by Mr Gaddafi’s son Saif al-Islam just before the demise of the Libyan regime - thanks partly to French and British airstrikes - in 2011.
Mr Takieddine’s claims were rejected today as “outrageous” and “self-interested” by sources close to Mr Sarkozy. Last year President Sarkozy denounced a similar claim by the investigative website Mediapart as “grotesque”.

The Lebanese businessman is himself under formal investigation for allegedly organising and receiving illegal kick-backs on arms deals over two decades. He today admitted that his allegations against Mr Sarkozy were part of a proposed trade-off with the French judicial system.
