Today we have O'Brien's comic running the story about FG allegedly opening the door to Sinn Féin and a possible coalition etc But if you look at the link for it out of all the TD's it has Varadkar splashed across the top as if he was an authoritative voice or deputy or even leader in waiting and a quote !! Likewise we have another pro Varadkar about him allegedly been backed by " 30 Fine Gael parliamentary party members " (30 - a nice round number plucked eh :) ) back in December. Funny enough I remember similar stories been run about David Norris and what a lovely man he was in the run up to the Presidential election.

So folks why would the south Dublin luvvies in O'Brien's comics want to promote lovely Leo ?

Well I wouldn't be a big fan of FG as anyone knows :) But ' Leo ' as the Indo likes to mainly refer to him is getting a disproportionate coverage in the Indo in the possible candidates for leader. I just did a quick google on " Coveney leader Fine Gael " and didn't get a mention of Simon Coveney for potential leader from the Indo, though for example the Examiner he was tops in a farming poll :)

Maybe the indo is bias in favour of Leo so, or maybe they've the inside track. Hardly matters a jot when the vote is internal. what's a gay agenda?

Read the bit about Norris in the OP. Or if you can tell why would the south Dublin luvvies in O'Brien's comics want to promote lovely Leo as clearly they are ?

Not a fan of Senator Ronan Mullen but he had a point -

The Sunday Indo have a journo who is shilling for Francis Fitzgerald a lot of time ,almost every week he writes an article about how great she is and how everyone around her thinks she would be a great leader. He says she has most cabinet support of the main contenders.

In the pretense of ' balance ' I suppose the luvvies have to mention the odd rival, don't get the same coverage lovely Leo gets though.

It is interesting that the Blueshirts are going to promote to their leadership someone who once intimated that he could take or leave Politics.

When you get it easy it means less.

Can someone post a list of "Leo's" accomplishments in any of the departments he has run?

He has an opinion on every department except his own.His greatest achievement was "coming out" and really no one gave a rats ar$e about that.

The main attraction of Varadkar for FG leader is the reaction of other parties to the prospect. FF are especially fearful because he is popular among the uncommitted who like the idea of someone who answers questions in single syllables on occasion. He has pretty strong opinions of a conservative nature and he's as likely to walk away from govt as to cobble together a shambles.

He may be the darling of the media yet I would suggest he is better suited to his new and occasional DJ job, I don't ascribe the words 'political leader' to him at all. All mouth and no trousers so to speak.
