So whilst I do not think porn is causing the school shootings

Porn Leads To School Shootings, GOP Congresswoman Says
Does anyone know what kind of porn Rep. Diane Black (R-Tenn.) is watching?

Whatever it is, the 67-year-old Black, who is running for governor of Tennessee, said it’s a “big part” of what is driving the spike in school shootings.
I am curious if there might be anything obvious ?

All males, with serious guns...a distinctly American phenomenon ...

So what we have are high risk white people, in a country which was racially divided since the Pilgrim fathers arrived, preferentially entrusted with psychotropic drugs, guns, fake news and power. What could go wrong?

Andrea Dworkin would have agreed with this. She was obsessed with banning porn and was from Second Wave feminism. She worked with Reagans commission on porn with the rubber stamp report blaming porn for violence. A faction of feminists known as sex-positive-feminists disagreed strongly with her, instead regarding porn as part of womens empowerment through sexual liberation.

I personally disagree with Congresswoman Diane Black.

School shootings have only been a "common event" in the U.S. in past twenty years. They were not common when I started elementary school in 1995. You could walk in and out of our school easily, there were no locks on the doors, windows were opened when it was warm, etc. Then in 1999 the Columbine shooting kicked off the current period of seemingly constant school shootings, and suddenly we had to have intruder drills, where you locked the classroom door, shut the blinds, and dropped to the floor. These days my elementary school is a fortress and you need to get buzzed in. The "school shooter" became an American cultural archetype: kids (including me when I was in school) will say that a weird kid "seems like a school shooter."

The bottom line is that people in America like guns. Senators from states with high gun ownership regardless of party will be hostile to most gun regulations. 29 states have gun ownership rates of 30% or higher. Furthermore, the structure of Congress puts pro-regulation members at a disadvantage and is why even modest regulation can be defeated. In the Senate rural states have outsized influence; the 42 Senators representing the least populous 21 states (10% of the population) can block legislation.

Actually, there are as many guns per capita in Switxerland, Canada, as there are in the USA. I think Finland might also be close.

There is a problem in the USA, with regards to agression, and the glorification of violence. It is a bit like Norn Iron in that regard.

It's availability of guns and a gun mentality. Irish kids have dark thoughts, all kids have dark disturbing thoughts momentarily. The difference in America is that daddy had an AR 15 in the kitchen cupboard.

While it doesnt excuse it, analysts I saw on CNN recently said that it is often the case that the shooters were bullied before the shooting happened. The Columbine shooters were bullied because they were seen as weird (including a sortof Gothic style of dress I think I heard on a documentary), I think that as part of a prevention strategy, an anti bullying policy in schools might help.

Interesting
https://edition-m.cnn.com/2018/05/30/us/florida-parkland-nikolas-cruz-videos/index.html

In one video, Cruz says, "Today is the day. The day it all begin. The day of my massacre shall begin. All the kids in school will run and fear and hide. From the wrath of my power they will know who I am."
"Hello, my name is Nick and I'm going to be the next school shooter of 2018," says Cruz at the start of another video. "My goal is at least 20 people with an AR-15 and a couple tracer rounds."

"It's going to be a big event. And when you see me on the news, you'll all know who I am," he said before laughing.
