The Court of Appeal in Kuching, Sarawak, today (Aug.17th 2016) dismissed an appeal by three people from the state who want to leave Islam.

The three are Jenny Peter, Nur Muzdhalifah Abdullah, Tiong Choo Ting, Mohd Syafiq Abdullah and Salina Jau Abdullah. All of them were represented by state PKR chief Baru Bian.

They named the director of the Sarawak Islamic Department, Sarawak Islamic Council and the National Registration Department (NRD) as the respondents.

All three of them want to compel the Sarawak Islamic Department, and the council to issue letters of release (surat murtad) to the applicants to be released from the religion of Islam.

If Islamic countries want equal treatment for their co religionists in the West they should practice it for non-Muslims at home.

Canon law was changed and they disallow leaving by this method now as they said, you can't change a historical record. i.e. that you were baptised and christened at a church.

The site was not really taken down, the owner discontinued it as it no longer had a purpose.

Interestingly it is law in Australia that they must honour a wish to defect and indeed they are still doing this.

I looked into this a while back, in a way though but insisting on their honouring your leaving you are suggesting that their opinion of their magic ideas and chicanery have any purchase and are real issues......well they're not, and they're not.

Sort of - what people were actually doing was making a formal declaration of defection. Even under the original rules, that didn't undo baptism, according to Church teaching.

I'd simply like to take my name off their books. When they enumerate their members I would like it to read N -1.

Yet another thread about to be destroyed by Mercurial. Over and out.
He does have a knack for reading English, interpreting it pretty clearly and stymying attempts to twist every statement into one unrecognisable from the original premise. You should try reading English as it's written some time.

See below.
Your name is registered in Heaven.
Whether you check in successfully is entirely up to you.

I believe you are correct .

My own understanding of Church teachings is that Baptism imparts an indelible character to the soul.
As such it can never be undone.

I must now defend Mecurial.

Opps but isnt the thread about compulsion in Islam like in suffering the death penalty if you convert to another religion.
Back to the topic.

Being ethereal nonsense concepts I can deal with that.
Not real, is not real, I was thinking of the real having my name and claiming it amongst the numbers of the deluded.

The census would take care of this, if the questions weren't loaded.

My cycling club has similar records to the Catholic Church in that once you sign on there is no way you can be taken off the roll. You may emigrate, sell your bike, publicly denounce cycling but in our club's records you are still a cyclist.

That's my understanding too.

Surely you mean the concept, not the fact that a non-existent soul has a non-existent "indelible character" whatever that's supposed to mean?

Oh you mean your name on a baptismal registry somewhere?

I assume it was done by your parents.

So you want to go in to the registry and physically erase your name from the record?

You could do that but it would not change the historical fact of the event or the spiritual fact of the current and indelible mark of Baptism on your
own soul.

So much effort on your part required and what is the return may I ask?

BTW this is a thread about Islam.

If you want to leave that religion you can have a fatwah condemning you to death
