The article is about Bluetooth, not IP.
The writer seems to be confused.

That reminds me of those couples who use remote controlled vibrators in public places. I've seen some funny clips, usually of Oriental girls in fits of laughter while their boyfriends control the vibrating knickers. Still, it would make the grocery shopping more fun. petunia

I was talking to someone recently who activates his kettle over the internet. Obviously, that could be done from anywhere in the world, but he's happy to be able to do it from upstairs before he gets out of bed in the morning, which I suspect is the same with a lot of this IOT stuff. Could be controlled from anywhere due to being IP based, but is probably going to be done locally using your phone.

One of the first things that came (ha ha) to mind, and there were many, was online competitive wànking. Like online Nintendo Wii but with butt plugs and dildos...

God be with the days we used to debate freedom vs security.

The modern debate appears to be mass convenience vs not being violated remotely by one's own sex toy.
