So its official

however there are plus & minuses to him

1) Plus: he will shore up the GOP's religious base he is very right wing and very anti abortion and has been for all his career

2) Minus: the anti gay law he signed in Indiana last year (while anti gay activists stood behind him as he signed it) damaged him & his state, the state lost 12 large conventions, an estimated $60 million in business, and an untold number of businesses choosing to locate elsewhere, with the Hoosier State rebranded as the Hater State. Pro-business Republicans and moderates rebelled and the pressure force him to change the bill to remove most of the anti gay bigotry

this will cause many moderates to run away from the trump-pence camp, also Trump has chosen the poster child for “religious freedom” and anti-gay discrimination—precisely where pro-business Republicans have drawn the line.
Add the Pence choice to the “most anti-LGBT platform in the party’s history” add to that Trump’s many derogatory comments about women, and Trump’s extreme anti-business positions on protectionism, and it’s easy to see a Trump-Pence ticket as attracting few pro-business Republicans at all, this may cost him the election!

The GOP sooner or later will have to follow the UK Conservatives in dumping anti gay politics.

Pence is a climate change denier, a defender of Big Tobacco and a complete bigot.

Completely out of step with the times - nothing there for minorities, LGBT or women, the groups Trump needs to attract.

Anne Coulter thinks he is a bad choice for a different reason. Not that I regard that particularly stupid woman as any fountain of wisdom.

In her Facebook post, Coulter slammed Pence for flip-flopping on gay marriage and being soft on immigration.

“He’s all in for corporate America bringing in as many guest workers as they please to replace American workers,” she wrote.

I read somewhere that Ann Coulter is increasingly irrelevant. She does not get many invites to write/appear in media any more. She is old hat, uninteresting, predictable.

Article was in Salon I think. Also has popped up in other sites.

well it wont be sooner, have you seen there platform for the convention (its the most right the part has ever gone from all reports)

1) Against gay marriage
2) Against gay parenting
3) Supports debunked ex gay therapy
4) refused to recognize that LGBT people have been victims of ISIS
5) Against trans people being able to use the toilet which corresponds to their gender identity

6) Supports the border wall
7) Supports Donald Trump's trade protectionism
8) Against all porn (likens it to child porn)
9) Against all abortion (with no exceptions for anything like rape or incest)
10) Opposes Unmarried couples (even straight ones!) living together
11) Against the IRS, wants it dismantled
12) commits the party to protecting against magnetic pulse attacks
13) opposes The Endangered Species Act including species such as grey wolves (which would probably cause their extinction)
14) demands the feds give public lands back to the states
15) opposes adding prairie chickens and sage grouses to the endangered species list.

So, Pence supports TPP, is for immigration, supported the Iraq War (which Trump did as well) and anti-gay. Hmmmm, just more evidence Trump doesn't believe in anything he says. Who would have thunk it?

I see all the liberals think Hillary is going to implement Bernies policies because he endoresed her.

But the fools the fools.....

You maybe overestimate the importance of that one aspect of the platform.

People vote for all sorts of reasons, not just based on the position on one specific factor.

Seems like a safe enough choice, given his options. Trump grows more dangerous by the day.

Twitter Has Field Day With New Trump/Pence Logo

The Hill reports:

The first logo for the newly announced Donald Trump-Mike Pence presidential ticket faced public ridicule on social media shortly after it was revealed Friday morning. The Republican National Committee’s joint fundraising committee with Trump’s campaign sent out an email with the logo, which shows an intertwining capital T and capital P against the red and white bars of the American flag. The image seemed “suggestive” to many Twitter users, who took to the platform to giggle and opine.

If you put the Hillary logo next to the Trump logo, it looks like they're double-teaming Pence
