Politics.ie has learned exclusively tonight that Labour Senator on the Trinity Panel Ivana Bacik will be Labour leader Eamonn Gilmore's running mate in Dun Laoghaire for the forthcoming general election.

More soon.

Ivana Bacik hasnt got a socialist bone in her body. Yes, she's good on feminism and gay rights, but she wouldn't know commodified labour if it hit her in the face.

If she were running in my constituency, I'd enjoy not voting for her.

If true, not surprised. Must be in with an excellent chance of taking a seat, leaving it LP 2, FG 1 and the last between FF, FG & PBP.

Well if she doesn't get in now, she only has herself to blame.

Gilmores seat must be the safest in the country, so if they don't get 2 here they won't be getting anywhere close to fg as the majority party.

She is about the worst candidate Labour could put up but might scrape a seat. In any case she will lose it at the next election - the woman does not have a quota in herself.

She has tried for more seats than a punter in the Sofa Factory. Surely good news for RBB.

Feminism is not a label to be proud of.. it’s anti men (half of humanity)... it's the opposite of misogynism..

That is a problem for Labour. Why don't, say, the likes of St. Fintan O Tool put their names in the ring, instead of seeming to want to create his own party?

That's a risible claim, feminism and misandry are not the same thing.

I'm all for closing the pay gap and equal oppurtunities for women but Bacik's "Positive discrimination" philosophy get on my nerves.

Come to think about it, what about Jack O'Connor, Begg and some of these great leaders of the proletariat we hear about? Is it that the pay and conditions aren't good enough?

I can confirm this, though have to say that the new left alliance can use this switchery to make hay

What a load of bollocks. 'Philogyny' is the opposite of 'misogyny'.

And I'm guessing that you're probably not open to the idea (or, as it could be more accurately described, fact) that misandry and feminism aren't the same thing.

As a candidate? Dublin Central and Dun Laoghaire (sought nomination in DSE and didn't get it). Ran in Dublin for the Euros as De Rossa's sweeper, but all those are part of Dublin, of course.

How many have you been selected in Tommy?

Bacik's lust for attention is matched only by her utter wrongness on several issues.
She'll go down like a lead balloon in DL, and she'll take Gilmore with her.
He's obviously looking for a fall guy.
