Taoiseach Enda Kenny has reappointed Senator James Reilly as Fine Gael deputy leader.
In a surprise move, Mr Kenny told his parliamentary party that the former north Dublin TD would return to the position he held before the General Election.
The meeting, which is still going on, heard a call from Louth TD Fergus O'Dowd for fresh leadership.

Could this be the beginning of the end of Enda?

He didn't do anything when the whistleblower told him about Paul Kelly.

But plain packaging for fags is a monumental achievement just the same.

And round and round we go. No surprise there.

Sure They know they only have a few months in this Government left. Scrambling around to make appointments, clear the decks before the next election.

Sickening.

Yes, plain packaging, that's what has caused a huge drop in cigarette sales. Nothing to do with highly effective e-cigarettes at all, no, nothing.

Much ado about nothing, a meaningless title from yesterday's man.

Or smuggling of cigarettes by subversives and criminals being sold by women with their prams full of fags everywhere. As if 60 something women had babies in a pram on Moore Street FGS!

Anyway, I'm with you on the Ecigs. The brother quit tobacco after 20 years by using them. Result.

I suppose the next Finance Bill with put excise duty on the e liquid or something. They can do what they like.

My guess is that there's financial benefit in being deputy leader and Kenny is diverting some shekels to his pal who has fallen on hard times.

Kenny wanted a Deputy who wouldn't be a contender to take over from him.

They say the best leaders appoint people who are smarter than them. Kenny's appointments demonstrate what a weak leader he is.

Enda is showing us with this bold move and that of his Senate appointments that FG is a party of the future.
