How can a Minister for Disability stand over a decision to withdraw the mobility allowance without being in a position to immediately introduce a new scheme? It really beggars belief.
Since her appointment Lynch has been a 'prisoner' of her department and constantly taken the Departments side in various spats with the disability sector. She has not taken an independent stance on any issue , lapping up the faint praise that is thrown her way on public occasions.
She is so bad that she in retrospect makes Mary Wallace look good.

Its inhumane if you ask me, these people are amongst the most vulnerable in our society and should get to keep this basic allowance.

If she is not fit for purpose, you are entitled to a:

Refund - Too late for that, her pension is ringfenced for life.
Replacement - Promote someone from the backbenches?
Return - Not vote her back in next time out.

The Return option is the easiest.

Labour went into government knowing full well the extent of the public finances. In government they have done nothing except implement right wing FG fiscal policy.Lynch is no different than her other Labour colleagues, they have all disappointed. They await the voters judgement of their despicable behaviour at the next election. The opinion polls predict meltdown.Hopefully she and the rest of Labour will suffer the same fate as the Greens.

Bottler is so bad she can hide her shortcomings behind his more than ample shadow, this is a poor FG attempt at seeking to deflect the gunfire.

What's the big problem, seems to be a whole lit hd people flapping around on this issue for no good reason.
The schemes were illegal, they are ending in 4 months, an expert group is reporting in 3, and it will be sorted then.
Listening to some of the hysterical commentary on this , you would be forgiven for thinking the sky was falling in.

For those with disabilities it is. But then FG is more concerned about its wealthy bankster pals.

Maybe I am totally misunderstanding the situation , but if nothing is being lost and the gov are going to try and continue the schemes in a different legal form then where is the issue.

Uncertainty is never nice, but pointless fretting and churnalism is a lot worse.

Labour, Greens, PDs, sounds familiar, they will do anything for a pension, principles? Ha! the only thing that matters is the princely sum of a big fat pension for life,

No fan of Lynch, but this reeks of Calamity James Reilly; Lynch is just having to be the face of the shambles.

We shinners do like our polls, don't we?
You probably know, a chara, that on liners aren't too accurate, don't you?
I don't take much comfort from an erosion of Labour support, not when I see who seem to be the main beneficiaries from other polls.
It's not that people are increasingly turning left for an alternative, more a case of "here comes the new boss, same as the old boss".
