The people believed the media spin doctors on the Seanad during the referendum in the same way they believed the media spin doctors during the boom which bankrupt the country.

The trust placed in media about the Seanad and the trust placed in media during the boom was not in the interest of the ordinary people of this country who trusted in their media.
Two failures there. The media of course, but also the citizens who simply could not be bothered to look for the facts and look into the facts before casting their vote. Fool me once and all that. To a large degree people just could not be bothered, and not just with their civic responsibility in relation to how they vote.

Thats not not to let off our horrendous forth estate either who are of a peculiarly low standard in general you would have to say. As long as they get their few quid thats that for most of them.

Katie Hannon of Primetime FOI'd and republished the correspondance from IMMA re John McNulty here

Prime Time - Humphreys, McNulty and the IMMA - RTÉ News

the director wrote to her staff and board explaining the situation.

'I was notified by the Department via a phone call from Kevin Lonergan on September 18th'
‘Several queries had been sent into our press department on that day and subsequent days asking for the list of our Board members and the [incorrect- le] list of 9 current members was sent out to all queries. https://static.rasset.ie/documents/news/email-new-board-members.pdf
What press or others knew that John McNulty was appointed to IMMA board just days before the nominations were ruled on, but didn't say?

Department of Arts officials were asked which State boards had vacancies.
The emails lend credence to Opposition claims that Ms Humphreys was pressed by unnamed Fine Gael officials to appoint Mr McNulty quickly to the board of a cultural institution in order to boost his credentials for the cultural and educational panel of the Seanad.

John McNulty got Imma post within two days of request

Documents released to The Irish Times under the Freedom of Information Act show Minister for Arts Heather Humphreys had appointed him to the board within two days of it being established there were vacancies at the museum.

Minister for Arts Heather Humphreys today stood over her appointment of Fine Gael Seanad byelection candidate John McNulty to the board of the Irish Museum of Modern Art.

Mr McNulty was confirmed as the Fine Gael candidate for the byelection in the Upper House less than a week later. The vote was held to fill the seat vacated by Fine Gael’s Deirdre Clune on her election to the European Parliament.
So exactly what Enda said did not happen, happened and due to the extremely short time frame it is even worse than we thought.

But it's OKAY, because Enda Kenny takes full responsibility for your perceptions of wrong-doing and it happened BEFORE he hugged Mairia Cahill, which then made everything all-better.

Why can't YOU people let go of the past!!!!!

At this point in time I think that we should all make the effort to get this story into the German media, in the hope that Merkel might tell her puppet to stop wasting German taxpayers money.

Because EK has no intention of listening to the disgruntled peasantry on the issue.

Daily Mail front page story on Darragh Loftus, he wasn't on the Public Appointment Service short list of 20 yet still got appointed

an example that the new rules that Howlin announced mean nothing because the minister can still ignore them and appoint who they like.

Yeah I seen that.

Clearly Kenny has learned zero, and is still as arrogant as ever.

One minute he is posing for photos with businessmen and talking about "investment".

The next minute he is sticking a crony on to the state payroll.

But...shur....never mind....give the lad a chance.....his family have been voting FG for generations.

Enda's neighbour on Solas board nets over its cronyism

"It's important that people with Darragh's enthusiasm and qualifications feel they can serve free gratis on State boards, giving of their time and experience," a spokesperson for the Taoiseach said.
money isn't the issue, Humphreys did the same thing, kept repeating that McNulty wouldn't get paid, that's not the problem.

Well, we do know now that Mr Kenny is a strong supporter of cronyism,
We were not wrong to hope for change.Alas, Mr Kenny did not agree.

Finding your Single Transferrable Whine on every second thread on this site makes me think that you'd like people to believe that voters would put up with unemployment remaining at 455,000, the budget deficit remaining at €25 billion a year with a complete economic crash inevitably following, and the economy continuing to contract, just as long as they could see evidence of a more transparent process of appointments to State bodies.

No chance of that with the corrupt Gombeens in FG in charge

We voted for better standards, however, cronyism was too important for Mr Kenny to drop.
.Lets remember what Mr Kenny said during the election campaign,
"This is a great opportunity to fix what is wrong with this country, Cronyism and collusion
over the last 14 years". Within 2 years splashed across the front page of a Sunday newspaper,
we were told the coalition was stuffing Quangos with its cronies, So much for change and
improved standards.

You know you really should check your facts. Just occasionally.

– Appointments to State Boards
Awful atempt at deflection
That is a press release not a "fact" .... The McNulty affair, now that was a fact

Oh and From your own link

"Appointments will continue to be the exclusive responsibility of the relevant Minister"

So nothing has changed
