Awful atempt at deflection
That is a press release not a "fact" .... The McNulty affair, now that was a fact

Oh and From your own link

"Appointments will continue to be the exclusive responsibility of the relevant Minister"

So nothing has changed
Kennyism, sticking chums, relatives, and party supporters in state boards, and then insulting the people's intelligence, when they get found out.

Yep and In a way i can understand that , its the legions of gobshiites like HBAP who pay in financial and societal terms for this corruption yet support it to the hilt , unquestioningly as if in some sort of cult that astonishes me .... I really really cant understand it as anything other than a strain of Stockholm syndrome

According to Adams when Cameron announced at the talks in Stormon. one billion take it
or leave it,Kenny sat silently beside him not a word,Then i suppose Kenny never did any
negotiations. Obviously the Shinners stuck their heels in and got the extra billion.
Whatever we think of Bertie now,he was able to negotiate and never ran away from the
negotiating table.

Simon Coveney in Sunday Times: Cronynims row unjust to Kenny, not his fault. won't say who's fault it was.

called it a 'Stupid mistake', was the mistake not getting away with it, because there happened to be another person to vote for.

'Stupid' mistakes made in Seanad selection: Kehoe | Irish Examiner 'Stupid' mistakes made in Seanad selection | Irish Examiner no detail on what mistake was made by whom, so no indication they've learned from it.

and the ministers were too busy, this happened in the summer break.

Enda Kenny (Taoiseach, Department of An Taoiseach; Mayo, Fine Gael)
Link to this: Individually | In contextThe questions are irrelevant. We are in a very different space now and all appointments to any State board are first advertised on www.stateboards.ie. Any person anywhere in the country who wishes to apply for any of these positions must apply through that website, meet the criteria set out there, be vetted, and have his or her credentials verified as suitable for appointment to the relevant State board before anything further can happen. I refer Deputies to the guidelines on appointments to State boards which were published in November last year by the Minister for Public Expenditure and Reform. They set out a very different position for the future for all of these appointments. They require that while www.stateboards.iebecomes a one-stop-shop for all of these appointments, candidates must specify relevant experience, educational and other qualifications, particular personal attributes and a range of skills they will bring to board membership. The portal also contains definitive current information on all statutory boards including legal basis, membership, terms of appointment, current vacancies, gender balance and other diversity indicators. For the information of Deputies, the guidance on appointments to State boards sets out all of these things.
John Lumsden and Aileen O’Toole were apppointed on 31/10/2014 to Road Safety Authority

Brendan Howlinon on RTE media show yesterday says doesn't want to trivialise McNulty incident, then does so ******/1Mivfvs interview starts a few minutes in Howlin brings up McNulty at 9 minutes

see how he says sure all it was was putting somebody on the board of the modern art gallery, he says with a sneer and it requires mick clifford who was also on the show to point out it wasn't about the board but readying him up for the Seanad

the minister abused her office by not putting the public interest first, she should have resigned

Enda's 'iron grip' on Arts board revealed - Independent.ie
A series of internal communications between Mr Kenny's chief of staff Mark Kennelly and officials at the Department of the Arts, Heritage and Gaeltacht, obtained by Renua leader Lucinda Creighton under the Freedom of Information Act, show how the Taoiseach and then-Tanaiste Eamon Gilmore were directly involved in the State board appointment process within months of coming into Government.

Responding on June 20, 2011 to an email from a civil servant in the Department of the Arts, Heritage and Gaeltacht in relation to the appointment of a new member to the board of the Arts Council, Mr Kennelly made it clear that it was not in the then-Arts Minister Jimmy Deenihan's gift to make the decision.

Mr Kennelly wrote: "I will bring these vacancies to the Taoiseach and Tanaiste and get back to you. The Minister should not proceed with filling any vacancies until then."
Creighton asking Ministers if a particular person had any influence over state board appointments
https://www.kildarestreet.com/search/?s=has+had+any+influence+over+any+appointment+made+by&pid=83

is she asking about Mark Kennelly?
https://www.kildarestreet.com/wrans/?id=2015-07-16a.2490
To ask the Minister for Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht if she is responsible for all board appointments where the power to appoint people toState boards is vested in her by statute
Responsibility for making appointments to a number of statutory State boards is vested by statute in me as Minister for Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht. As I have not made any appointments to those statutory boards since becoming Minister, the question of anyone seeking to exercise any role or influence in the making of such appointments does not arise.
what does mean by statute? which state boards is she talking about?

one where the power to appointment is made by primary legislation or by secondary legislation?

is that like the stated orgs that nominate like employee and employer reps and unions and associations that are allowed to nominate a certain number onto boards, who nominate these people to the minister who ultimate nominates them to the board?

is she asking whether Mark Kennelly and Enda kenny have veto over them too?

he's rowed back on what he said in the debate, still saying Humphreys appointed him, (which is technically correct but only after instructions from her party hq which is an abuse of office)

Humphreys abused her office and should have resigned, but if Kenny instructed her (through a proxy) what about his position? which is why political corresspondents didn't push it, they didn't think it was important enough to lose Kenny, but abuse of office for party gain is abuse of office.

This is Ireland. Our political system is rotten to the core. I didn't expect anything else from Kenny.
Kenny has admitted to corruption. Plain and simple.

Why didn't he offer his resignation along with the apology?
Leo seems to have learned a lot from him.
