Kerry County Council to debate same-sex marriage and abortion motions

Following the vote in Cork City Council, Gillian Wharton-Slattery (Labour) is to table a motion on gay marriage at the next monthly meeting of Kerry County Council. It will be interesting to see if the political parties conform to their national positions on the matter, doubtless there will be vehement opinion both for and against. John Joe Culloty (FF) has also tabled a motion concerning abortion, calling for opposition to the introduction of any legislation that violates the 1983 Abortion Amendment.

And this is why we're in the state we're in, we have County Councillors discussing gay marriage and the Dail discussing potholes....there's a whiff of Nero fiddling while Rome burns about all this kind of guff and nonsense..

It should be entertaining at least, I would say the healy rea clan will issue some incredible one liners, gems of intelligent thought such as 'shure where will future generations come from'

John Joe Culloty (FF) has also put down a motion against any legislation for any measure of abortion whatsoever.

With all these motions is there any hope Kerry Cllrs will do any work with relevance to the post they were elected to at all??

...........................and legislation being sureptitiously introduced which denies peiople access to the Courts (IBRC Legislation) and encourages people to snitch on their neighbours (the new Property Tax law). Truly bringing together all that was best about latter day East Germany under Honecker and modern day North Korea under their latest nutcase. It would appear there are parties at work in the establishment who would like to create a totalitarian paradise.
Whast are our so called journalists, the guardians of our democracy, doing ?? What is happening is truly frightening, we are sleepwalking into a nightmare!

Gosh, I didn't know Kerry C.C. had the powers to legislate on this matter?!

What a load of grandstanding by Wharton-Slattery. Double barreled surnames, f.f.s. ..!

There has been 18 civil partnerships to date in Kerry, Do the Healy Rea's not see market potential for a scam/monopoly?

A similar motion has already been passed by Cork County Council, there is no harm in letting those in the government know the opinions of those elected to serve in local government.
