This is the thread for the Kerry North \ West Limerick General Election 2011.

Candidates known so far:

Jimmy Deenihan FG
John Sheahan FG
Martin Ferris SF
AJ Spring Labour

I don't think the FF convention has been held yet but I presume Tommie Mac will be an automatic pick.

FG, SF and Lab seem to be the order of the day here. Donegal SW will be an indicator if the melt down in the FF heartlands is spreading across the board.

There are already previous threads on the constituency so why start another one.
There are a few threads dealing with individual issues but none focussed on the general election 2011, the candidates and the news/predictions and polls.

Wrong

There are already threads dealing with the constituency so why add another, finding a different name doesn't make it a different constituency.

General Election.

Now that the GE is definitely going to happen next February or March, i am glad to see that this thread has started to discuss the GE2011.

I doubt if FF will find a 2nd candidate to run. No Cllr with an ounce of sense certainly will not be putting themselves forward as the sacraficial lamb, especially as there is no Seanad seat to run for afterwards as the queue there will be a mile long with FFers.

Without any shadow of doubt I think we can call it here 1 FG, LAB, SF will FF losing out. Tommy Mac will then take the baby sister's seat on the Council and return to teaching for 5 years in the hope of making it back.

Where is John Sheehan FG from? I mean is he from Kerry? FG will need to field a candidate from the Limerick end of the constituency.

I think Deenihan will be on top followed by AJ and too close to call between Mac and Ferris. Unfortunately its likely we will again have an extremely poor selection of candidates to choose from.

And whom do you suggest the parties run?

It would be great if they could get people of the calibre of Jerry Kennelly and Denis Brosnan.

He is from West Limerick, Glin I think.
Indeed he is, a county councilor from the Rathkeale area. Which brings me to my next question. Is there a map out there of the new constituency? I thought Glin/Rathkeale (where I am originally from) was in Limerick rather than Kerry North/West Limerick constituency.

John Brasill he was shafed the last time by he now Senator Ned....Mac on his own I would think if FF split their weakened vote it leaves way open for Ferris
