Its the biggest damage to the NO side produced. It bears no credibility what so ever. No wonder martin and co are having a field day, just shows how ridiculous some of these arguments have become.

We had Nice, Amsterdam, Maastrict and in each of those, various extreme NO people have made claims about abortion and neutrality and I'm still waiting for the world to fall in.

There are intelligent people on the NO side, let them get the coverage rather than whack job fundamentalists who see conspiracy behind every corner.

Hows this for an idea : Allow any company or organisation that allows Workplace Democracy or a fully fledged Cooperative to set their own wages. Even if it is less than the current minimum wage. The employees are given access to the information on how the company is being run and how much money is being made. Allow them to vote for a lower wage to keep going.
Then the profit at the end of the year is divided up amoung the employees equally.

Can you please link to peer reviewed empirical evidence that a minimum wage reduces unemployment?

Socialist headbangers talk of a "race to the bottom" when in fact what we will/are seeing in EU is a race to the middle, wages and costs are rising fast in the poorer EU countries and stagnating/falling in the richer countries. The EU is the biggest socialist experiment in history. Socialists also forget that market forces dictate wages and not the presence of a minimum wage, rising the minimum wage to 20euro an hour would result in huge increase in unemployment . If min wage was removed socialist would have you beleive that people would work for 3 euro an hour or something but this totally ignores the supply of jobs, labour etc in economy.

Completely agree.
I was one of the 'undecided', but the NO campaign is making me into a YES voter.

Their posters are so extreme and off-putting, I have honestly begun questioning wheather their campaign is actually being run by people who support the treaty.

Who is he talking to now - hopelessly, frustratingly hesitant and missling all the open goals Myers is opening up for him.

All true. The yes-men could easily trump claims about threats to the min wage by guaranteeing that it will definitely not be reduced if Lisbon is passed. Any takers?

We never had one in prior years, so why now?

It is an artificial price.

Let demand/supply dictate.

So you want a play on words.

I can guarantee that the minimum wage wont be cut as a result of passing the Lisbon treaty.

I cannot however guarantee that there will not be a cut in the minimum wage if Lisbon is not passed.

Regardless of your view on the minimum wage, or the Lisbon treaty, there is no link.

You have to be a fool to think the Lisbon treaty affects it any way.

There are good reasons to get rid of the minimum wage though somehow I doubt very much Kevin Myers managed to hit on any of them.
