President Lyndon B. Johnson came perilously close to being killed by one of his secret service agents hours after JFK had been killed.

President Lyndon Johnson 'nearly shot dead' hours after JFK assassination - Telegraph

And he would have been suceeded in that scenario by The Bostonian Democrat, Speaker of the House, John William McCormack. I don't know if he was in the classic JFK 'Irish Mafia' Mould!

If LBJ had been killed, I suspect it could have changed America slightly, almost certainly a weaker Civil Rights Bill and it may have influenced the course of The Vietnam Engagement, though McCormack supported the war!

McCormack would have been up against it to win an actual term at a presidential election!

He remained a heartbeat away from LBJ until Humphries became Vice President in January 1965!

He used to speak to colleagues in person (not on phone) when he was sitting on the jacks

I wonder if MacCormack was against busing in Boston when black kids were sent to schools in white areas.
