Dylan is like the Duracell bunny of musicians.Ha, bad I know, but that's almost always my first thought when one of the greats dies.. "That's awful.. but phew.. Dylan is still knocking around." I am saving all my celebrity grief for that day, apparently..
RIP Mr. Cohen.
"I never had the sense that there was an end," he said in 1992. "That there was a retirement or that there was a jackpot."
I love CP Cavafy.I will always regret not making the effort to see him live. Even on the last tour, he seemed to really try and connect with his audiences in each country.
A minor example of the man's artistry: he takes a great Greek poem about a Roman abandoned by fate in Alexandria:
C.P. Cavafy - Poems - The Canon
and gives us this:
Jeekers, didn't see you there GG20! Cavafy's poem by itself often moves me to tears when I think of Dublin.
There is only love."Now I've heard there was a secret chord, that David played and it pleased the Lord, but you don't really care for music, do you?
It goes like this, the fourth, the fifth, the minor fall, the major lift, the baffled King composing Hallelujah!"
What a wonderful artist!!
