It's a case of if you can't beat them join them for Leo. Less than 24 hours after clowns were lambasted for kite surfing and swimming to distract the emergency services from their important work, An Taoiseach Leo Varadkar got in the way of a bunch of ESB electricians trying to reconnect rural Co Meath to the national grid.

Is there anything that Leo wouldn't do to get his mug in front of the camera? Will his Vlog be filmed up a pole somewhere in the middle of the Wicklow Mountains as he has an AC moment with Sheep farmer?

'I wanted to see with my own eyes the scale of the damage' - Taoiseach visits storm stricken area with ESB crews - Independent.ie

Great to see Leo is now a fan of state owned infrastructure, if only it seems when he can have his photo taken in front of it!

It is working quite well for him, can't believe how many people texted in to radio shows saying that they thanked "Leo" for his great work looking after the country during the storm!Even the DJ (cannot remember who is was, Tubs maybe) said that this was strange as it was the emergency services, the ESB etc who looked after us...
People are such fools for a little PR spin, depressing, truly.

Makes a change from the practically invisible Enda...

Leo must be doing something right if he's riling so many... which judging by these pages he obviously is...

We are a country that continues to vote in FG and FF, intelligence isn't a strong point for the Irish electorate.

Didn't the spiv Ahern do much the same thing when the river Dodder flooded years ago? Politicians do this kind of thing all the time.

Varadkar is definitely adopting a more presidential way of acting whereas Enda Kenny was just a king of the village idiots type leader. How many of the people who texted in would have been from the FG propaganda department?

Eh... it's their job to restore electricity when it goes down...

And that link is 4 years old...

If that's all you've got Leo's got little to worry about...
Would the Taoiseach not let them get on with their job so? Dr Varadkar is in fact a fully qualified medic. Perhaps we can look forward to him turning up on New Years Eve in Blanchardstown A&E to not just thank the staff dealing with the area's drunks but actually roll up his sleeves and clean up the puke?

People see through this type of nonsense spin and PR. Is this what we're paying €5M for?

It's what leaders the world over do.

If he wasn't out and about, like his predecessor, he'd get hammered for that, like his predecessor.

In a rerun of the Higgins presidency campaign, Leo is definitely helped by RTE and IT in particular fawning over him ...posh school ,posh part of dublin , doctor , gay , right accent ....of course they adore him ....he's one of them

Is the ESB going to facilitate every politician who wants to have a selfie with a sparks over the next few weeks? By the way Leo looks a bit silly climbing up a ladder out of a ditch.

Usually the ESB wires are at the top of the pole. Did nobody point this out to him?

This is a f&*king disgrace.

The storm was yesterday and, as I type this, no ESB or Council representative has called to or even contacted me to tell me when they're going to sweep the leaves off my patio.

And I bet Leo Varakar has a sunroom.
