RIP. My favourite piper for many years, I would describe his style as relaxed, too many think playing at breakneck speed is a sign of skill. I started listening to pipers after listening to him in Planxty and went back to Seamus Ennis who was a close friend of his. Luckily, there are many fine pipers playing today thanks to people like him.

Of course it should be. Unfortunately, the knowledge of piping is probably less than that of theoretical physics

A genuine legend and a huge loss to traditional music.

Just sent an email to a mate in Canada in case he hasn't heard. I checked the Irish newspapers to see what they were reporting - nothing, however they all report that Jamie Carragher has been suspended by Sky Sports until the end of season. Sad to see their priorities.

He had a great range in music, not afraid to sit with an orchestra or back up musicians from different types but he never messed with the traditional style.

Yes, Allison Krauss, Knopfler and Clapton would attest to that, the man was a genius.
