  So it seems the poor souls who donated to Ganleys right-wing bandwagon will never find out where or how their hard earned pennies were spent. Well those who play with fire will get burnt

The company was incorporated in November 2008 and has not filed any accounts.

Is he involved in the US military? If so what was his motive in campaigning for a no vote?

Generally, if you don't file accounts, you get wound up, without asking. No idea whether this was voluntary or not though.

Voluntary is my guess. He sought to have it wound up.

Would love to know where the money came from.

Libertas: US Military Contractors Against Lisbon! - Indymedia Ireland

What's particularly interesting about this is that McEvaddy is the CEO of Omega Air, a US defence contractor (they supply cargo planes and inflight refuelling services to the US military).

declan ganley, president of Libertas, also happens to be president of Rivada Networks, a US defence contractor (they supply emergency communications networks to the US intelligence community).

Now, what's so peculiar about all of this is that there just aren't a large number of Irish people who happen to own companies whose major business is providing extremely sensitive services to the US military and intelligence community. If I were to hazard a guess, I'd say that the total population of this demographic in Ireland is 2 - although it's hard to tell since much of this sort of stuff is classified or covert. Maybe, by the end of the Lisbon campaign a whole tribe of Irish US defence contractors will emerge from the woodwork, but I doubt it.

Libertas spare funds mystery solved

I know a fellow, who knew a fellow who was on good terms with a fellow who was the treasurer of Libertas.

I rang the first fellow ( as a response to this thread) who rang all the other fellows and told me that the spare Libertas funds were invested in the glass bottle site as they were in favour of transparency (as in clear bottles).

Now you know where the spare cash went.

Libertas est mort but Ganley will be back in politics in some form or another, he is certainly still engaged at a European level .. what are the odds on a run at the presidency?

Of the other speakers we have American Enterprise Institute member Mr Richard Scruton famed for his work with cigarette industry:

and Jose Pinera.. famed for privatising social security while a member of the Chilean government of the murderer Augusto Pinochet

and Michael Pakaluk who was recently called a sick homophobe

Well it's not exactly exceptional considering FG's failure to reveal the sources of 93% of its donations according to SIPO last year, and similar figures for FF. In fact, FG claims to have received no donations since 1997! At least Libertas don't rob banks to fund their election campaigns... ;)

I'm aware of that: apparently this was as Ganley apparently sought to have it wound up in June
Ganley said in 2008 that his Libertas group is "dedicated to campaigning for greater democratic accountability and transparency in the institutions of the EU and developing innovative policies which can benefit Europe and foster a more positive relationship between those institutions and the citizens for whom they legislate."

Seems accountability and transparency doesn't apply to Libertas itself

It's amazing that they are singled-out while the Established parties can get away with hiding their sources of fundraising scot-free. Maybe the originator of this thread shouild change his name to "Establishmentarian".

And what percentage of that money were they required by law to disclose? Do you think someone who sticks a fiver in a church gate collection should have their name and address taken?

In fact, FG claims to have received no donations since 1997!
They've made no such claim.

All Libertas had to do was follow the same rules as the other parties, FT.
