Gandhi, a deeply racist and reactionary bigot who saw non-violence as a political tool as opposed to a principle as his western liberal admirers would have us believe is anything but a hero to the oppressed Christian, Sikh and Islamic communities but is particularly loathed by the Dalits (so-called tribals) and other "untouchables" who have suffered most at the hands of everything he stood for. It should come as no surprise that local Indians would protest the erection of a statue of this scumbag....However it probably did.

"Dear San Francisco Ferry Building Management,

Today marks the 141st birthday of Hindu religious leader Mohandas Gandhi, a statue of whom was installed on the Embarcadero in 1984. While there are few things our society needs more than advocates for peace and harmony, Gandhi was definitely not the icon of peace portrayed by his supporters. On the contrary, he spent his life advocating for racial segregation, Hindu supremacism over India and other causes harmful to minorities. As members of the area’s large community of Indian minorities, we are therefore compelled to respectfully but firmly request you to remove the statue.
Gandhi was instrumental in causing the bloody partition of India and consequently making religious nationalism the basis of the newly formed Muslim Pakistan and Hindu India. During the 1947 partition, he turned a deaf ear to the needs of over 70 million so-called “Untouchables” and 40 million Buddhists, Christians and Sikhs. His influence helped to concentrate political power in the hands of the majority populations, leaving minorities no choice but to accept the dominance of Islam in Pakistan or Hinduism in India. This caused the largest mass migration in human history as the original Hindu and Sikh residents in what became Pakistan were compelled to swap places with the Muslim residents of northern India. At least 12 million people were displaced and over one million died in the chaos...."

Gandhi was not responsible for the partition of India and he spent most of the time of the partition on a protest of silence. The founders of Pakistan were responsible for the ethnic conflict.

Gandhi was an attention seeker who knew how to play on the heart strings of western liberals...However there is no denying that his Hindu nationalism was instrumental in the sectarian blood bath that went along with the partition of India. Gandhi endorsed the Indian military’s annexation of Kashmir, Hyderabad, and Junagarh lets not forget.

Sevenstars you have lost the plot. Its hard to know where to begin picking apart the link you have posted in the OP. But one thing is apparent, its all bullsh*t. Its author Bhajan Singh is a Sikh nationalist. I have no doubt minorities have serious problems in India, but Ghandi created a state with a secular constitution and laws. Why would a rabid Hindu rascist and hate monger do such a thing? And why was he then assasinated by Hindu extremists?

Bhajan Singh is trying to take a tilt at a cornerstone of the India secular state, nothing more. He is trying to provoke a response and hatred, while maintaining an air of unity and common cause between often dispirit ethnic groups. Its shoddy and transparent nonsense.

Bhajan Singhs main focus should be the BJP, who are currently everything Bhajan Singh claims Ghandi was.

Indian sociologist on the use of child soldiers and rape by the state.

Salwa Jadun are a paramilitary army similar by the friekorps in Germany in the period between 1918 and 1923 and the Unionist paramilitary used by British Imperialism during the last insurgency in the occupied six counties. They have been armed by both the state and the multinationals who seek to plunder the natural resources contained in the "Maoist" base areas. Recently as part of "Operation Greenhunt" they has been let loose on the tribal population of a large part of India....They are truelly a Gandhian movement. Below is a middle class Inidan liberal explains how they go about making the world safe for most of the posters.

Also interesting is the rounding up of the local population forcibly into camps for their "safety" (a tactic the Americans copied from the Brits during the Vietnamese national liberation struggle).

Nice try. But Salwa Jadun started as an indiginious movement set up to counter a Maoist insurgency that kidknapped and murdered poor peasents at will. The government stepped in to provide arms to these people so they could counter the Maoist forces who rape, murder, kidnap and steal from the poor in order to sustain themselves. The Salwa Jadun do recruit child soldiers, so do the Naxalite-Maosits.

Child Soldiers of the Naxal Movement by Rajat Kumar Kujur

Just so there is a clearer picure of who you are trying to promote a heroes here:

it is the established policy of the banned Communist Party of India (Maoist) to recruit children above age sixteen. However the process starts earlier with the recruitment of children in the age group of six to twelve for children's associations called Bal Sangams, where children are trained in Maoist ideology, used as informers, and taught to fight with sticks. Depending on their skills and aptitude, children from a Bal Sangam are "promoted" to other Naxalite departments like Sangams (village-level associations), Chaitanya Natya Manch (CNM, street theater troupes), Jan Militias (armed informers who travel with the dalams), and Dalams (armed squads). In the Sangams, Jan Militias, and Dalams, Naxalites provide weapons training to children with rifles and teach them to use different types of explosives, including landmines. Children in Jan militias and dalams participate in armed conflicts with the security forces. Children in Bal Sangams, Sangams, and CNMs do not participate directly in hostilities, but are vulnerable to attacks by the security forces during anti-Naxalite combing operations. Children recruited into dalams are not permitted to leave, and may face severe reprisals, including the killing of family members, if they surrender to the police.
... another Maoist insurgentcy fuels itself on the fear and misery of the poor, they themselves help inflict.

Its always the same with the Indians they will do anything and everything to get their hands on a site to put up a new shop, nothing gets in their way.

They are just like their Pakistan cousins who have never qualified for the World Cup because every time they get a corner, they open a shop.
