Hard Left magazine LookLeft is 'hot' according to the Irish Times (Saturday magazine) - is the Left 'cool' again?

The new issue includes:

Mobilising a generation: Young Irish people facing sharply limited opportunities at home or emigration are beginning to mobilise, reports Dara McHugh.

Precious few heroes: With his politically charged songs Dick Gaughan has inspired generations of Left activists, Kevin Brannigan caught up with the veteran Scottish folk singer during his spring tour of Ireland.

No turning back from here: The Venezuelan revolution has dramatically changed not only the politics of Latin America also but the globe, reports Paul Dillon.

The tyranny of the credit rating agencies: Democratic accountability is being eroded by credit rating capitalism, writes Srinivas Raghavendra

Debate: Immigration – concern or opportunity? Stephen Nolan/Gavan Titley

Gonna shoot you down: Sam McGrath looks at the politics behind Madchester band The Stone Roses

What foot does he kick with?: Kevin Brannigan examines the role players from the Republic had in the modern history of one of Loyalism’s footballing bastions.

There are few things that say "stuck with space, need to fill with words" more clearly in magazines and papers than those awful what's hot/what's not lists.

As befits the group you show support for an inability to engage with any issue beyond grabbing and greed is evident in your response.

Ha ha!

Overreact much?

Okay, you are correct, I really love those "what's hot and what's not" columns. I love the way they change the title too, sometimes a "what's in and what's out", even a "what's hip and what's square" title. Kerraazzee editors with their zany ways.

I saw this last Saturday and found it quite amusing given the overall right wing of the IT in recent years. Stephen Collins in particular writes a weekly column which are craven in their support for the governments austerity agenda. One of the biggest government cheerleaders writing for any newspaper.

Ok that's better, thanking you. Respect the what's hot column - LookLeft will soon be appearing as a supplement in Woman's Way

The question LookLeft must ask is this an attempt at subversion or co-option?

Lefty sub-editor who probably writes for Look Left slips one past the editor.. hardly a sign of the downfall of humanity or the rise of the left.

The fact that an overtly political magazine is on sale in Dublin newsagents is in itself good news. Preferably to another "VIP" or "Hello" style rag.

More of this sort of thing.

Yeah but the Magazine bit is written by Sandymount liberals like Roisin Ingle who think it's hip to pretend to support vaguely leftie positions, as long as they can remain safely ensconsed in their cafes and wine bars, far from the nasty smell proles. I can't recall them saying that Alive! is 'hot', on the basis of media plurality and all that jazz

What does that mean? If you can't find something on Google trends it doesn't matter? None are blind as the ignorant.

More schitzophrenic meandering from the property paper with a news supplement.

Patronizing platitudes for young lefties with no money, is in there alongside the musings of fat pension recievers like Suds, Donkeylaffs, plus corporate mouthpieces Austin "no hard landing" Hughes, and Dan "bullishly optimistic about consumer spending power" McLaughlin.

Left wing newspaper the Irish Times like left magazine, a bit of a neo-communist love in if you ask me.

It burns nicely when setting a fire all the same.
