Macron "takes aim" at Ireland's corporate tax system.

Here we go again, RTÉ is crying wolf about some EU politician commenting on our corporate tax rate. In this case it's Emanuel Macron, France's president-to-be commenting that he wants to see a reduction in the gaps in tax rates between different rates. And it's the lead story on the news section of their website.

According to RTÉ's Tony Connelly, this amounts "to taking aim" at Ireland's corporate tax system. Granted, Macron did mention Ireland....mais, alors? Monsieur Macron can take aim all he wants. Indeed, he can even open fire. But as long as we have full control of our corporate tax policy, he'd be firing blanks.

It's a big issue in France but this is just posturing on Macron's part. It'll get him some votes but that's it.

Macron: Gap between EU member states over tax systems must be 'reduced'

Leo V will sort him out.

Fine Gael TD Leo Varadkar met the French presidential candidate Emmanuel Macron at an election rally in Paris at the weekend. The Minister for Social Protection attended the rally in a personal capacity. It was held a week before polling, was attended by thousands of people. Mr Varadkar (38) met the centrist candidate – who is 39 – towards the end of the rally and posted a photograph of the meeting on his Twitter and Facebook accounts.

France is a basket case when it comes to bureaucracy surrounding business. They would want to look at the rules there before firing blanks at other countries.

Excellent point. There's a lot more to our success in attracting FDI than the corporate tax rate. Streamlined tax procedures and ease of doing business count for a lot too but some French people want to simplify these issues and focus only on one little number.

I don't think it is important as to who makes statements about Ireland's low corporation tax rate policy.
At this stage, most countries have cottoned on to what Ireland is up to and they've started to reduce their respective corporation tax rates.

And rightly so, it wouldn't do any harm at all for corporation tax to rise a few percent at least here.

Mind you, you'll look hard to see our political parties and gurus promoting that idea. Even SF think corporation tax is a sacred cow of some sort.

Maybe Emanuel Macron will do us, the ordinary taxpayer, a favour?

Fncking globalist poodle. Marine had him pegged when she said that France would end up being led by either herself or Angela Merkel.

He's a little neoliberal puppet and Merkel is yanking his chain.

That's good, Macron isn't nearly as versatile in his positions.

Dear god, who does the PR for that man....at the feet of Merkel! Beginning to think Marine had a point when she said that France would be run by a woman.
