Maltreatment of two civilian analysts working in An Garda Síochána by senior uniformed management is a National Scandal

Evidence given by data specialists Lois West and Laura Galligan to the Oireachtas Justice Committee exposing the disgusting behaviour of senior Garda management is really shocking but in a similar manner as to how Garda whistleblowers have been mistreated by Garda management, these women have been mistreated the same, I am not in the least surprised.

With AGS it is scandal after scandal until we have a Minister for Justice willing to take the bull by the horns and enforce change in AGS but obviously, based upon the notorious behaviour of Varadkar and FG with them giving their nauseating most fulsome votes of confidence in previously exposed and shamed Garda Commisioners and defunct ex Justice ministers the rot will continue.

The maltreatment of two civilian analysts working in An Garda Síochána by senior uniformed management has been called a “national scandal” after they raised concern over homicide figures.

Garda senior management were also accused by several TDs of a “cover-up” after it emerged they dismissed and ignored concerns about how deaths had been classified. Justice Minister Charlie Flanagan last night said he was “concerned” by what he heard at the committee.

The two analysts claimed they were “attacked” and “belittled” by senior Garda management after they sought to highlight concerns after 43 deaths between 2013 and 2015 were found to have been misclassified.

Evidence given by data specialists Lois West and Laura Galligan to the Oireachtas Justice Committee has been described by TDs as “shocking” and “deeply disturbing”. At the commitee, Ms West and Ms Galligan told the justice committee they were “belittled and treated poorly”, put under pressure to resile from their findings and their “integrity was undermined and attacked”. They said they were also put under “significant pressure” to sign off on a report about homicide misclassifications that they knew was “completely inaccurate”and “misleading” last May. “Neither Ms West nor I were given the respect we deserved. Indeed, at times I felt we were belittled and treated very poorly,” Ms Galligan said. “We were subjected to severe pressure to withdraw our concerns, to ignore our professional standards and to agree with the views of the sworn members of the review team. Our integrity, both personal and professional was undermined and attacked,” Ms West said.

When those fools joined the force they probably only needed Primary Cert. to get in. Neanderthals were the thing of the day then. Thickos.

I take your point though I am sure there are many good honest workers in all walks of life who only needed a primary cert, but what ever the rotten "culture" is in AGS, it must be brought to an end and it won't happen as long as FF/FG are in government.

What organization in world, having back to back to back failures ad nauseam be allowed to continue to survive without correction. If these incidents were know to the outside police fraternity the offers of high paying and high responsibility jobs may not be offered.

You know those fire deaths of elderly people who live on their own ? , welllll I've had a niggling doubt in the back of my head about those cases and how easy and convenient a classification that is.

We need an answer from the much vaunted police authority about their failure to respond to the pleading of the analysts---I hope they will not rely on protocol as an excuse

It really is like an action replay similar to the way Garda whistleblowers have been mis-treated.

Garda civilian staff endured ‘15 months of torment’
Analysts Lois West and Laura Galligan claim pressure to approve incorrect homicide data
Two Garda civilian workers have outlined “15 months of torment” during which they claim they were pressured to approve homicide data they knew was wrong and which they did not agree with.

Any more scandals and all of senior AGS mis-management must be sacked. I wonder what the Garda's take on International Women's Day was?

Pat Flanagan: You can’t trust anyone in corruption-riddled Ireland even the gardai
Misclassifications and inaccurate recording of crimes by gardai are leaving women at risk of domestic violence

Garda scandal fatigue, sadly.

Another one. No surprise."

is not a million miles away from

"Another one. Big deal."
"scandal fatigue" your not the only one that thinks that way!

Then there was the strange case of the missing millions in the Garda College and allegations of money laundering that seem to have disappeared from the radar.

In fact we’ve all become so accustomed to corruption that we don’t even register it as crime, mostly because there’s no point in doing so because no one is going be brought to book for it.It’s probably a class thing as well, a banker who breaks a bank costing the taxpayer billions of euro would never be referred to as a “scumbag”.

That term is reserved for the lower orders who break into shops or steals a phone.

Is this covered by the Disclosures Tribunal remit?

I have wondered since the first allegations of bogus crime statistics started a few years ago whether there was political pressure on AGS to do it.

No doubt the relatively new and obviously completely f*cking irrelevant policing authority must have been too busy having complete confidence in Noreen Callinan II to pay any heed to a minor matter of a filing problem with 43 homicides.

and I use the term 'Noreen Callinan' deliberately and with some comfort as to its accuracy.

The police force that is the 'envy of Europe' strikes again.
