mmmm. I wonder if the James Collins that sits on the Garda Audit Committee is any connection to the Collins mafia in Limerick. Might explain why there is no word in the internal Garda investigation into o'dea's drink driving summons being suppressed by the intervention of his brother-in-law, also James Collins....

How can this guy carry out his role as first citizen of Limerick with all this stuff going on--have the citizens of Limerick nothing to say about it

When it is not been discussed or highlighted more in the media, the citizens of Limerick will be quick to forget. This issue is been played down because it is damaging for FF politics and the Gardai, simple as!

Issue still been raised but mainly for publicity reasons. No fan of the Socialist Party but keep up the pressure.

Councillor fails to persuade Limerick
Thats not pressure from the AAA(socialist party).

It's just acting the bollix imho.

This game is at half time and there will be no movement on it until the Garda report come out.

I think the other politicians are being very cautious so as not be seen to influence any investigation.

The Great helmsman, Comrade Cian knew what he was asking was unprcedented & out of order by yet he went ahead anyway. That news article you link is his pay off for his posturing.

Don't get me wrong, if there is evidence of wrong doing then the mayor should face the concequences. Personally I think he should have stepped aside while the investigation is taking place. He didn't and so foolishly has presented Comrade Prendiville with a weekly publicity opportunity. But right now thats all these weekly outbursts at the council are, publicity stunts but the mayor & FF have brought it on themselves.

Following on from RTE's expose last night, still no word on the Garda Investigation report into Limerick's Corrupt Councillor...

At what point does it become farcical?
It hasn't gone away you know....

According to one of tomorrows papers(via broadsheet.ie) he is getting off scot free with an internal Garda inquiry concluding that for legal reasons(mess up by the cops) he cannot be changed with anything , not even careless driving , never mind dangerous driving or driving under the influence.

Well done to the Gardai on yet another omni-shambles.

Questions are being asked in Fianna Fail circles about how the blood-alcohol test report found its way into Kathryn Hayes's hands. Some are even suggesting that it may have come from another source within the Party.

All sorts of shenanigans going on here and the way it has unfolded with O'Dea going to the Guards apparently in May, to ask them if there was going to be a prosecution, even he is coming out as a blameless victim....:shock:

So --it never happened. Perhaps the Minister for Justice could enlighten us.

To be fair to Jerry O'Dea, it appears that he made the inquiry off his own bat ahead of the mayoral election and it's doubtful he'd knowingly open a can of worms if he was aware of any funny business going on behind the scenes.

However, the real issue has yet to be answered and, more than three months down the road, we're still awaiting findings on how a seemingly open-and-shut case was never followed up. It shouldn't be that difficult as there is a paper trail set in stone for drink-driving offences but this one appears to defy the laws of gravity.

Nevertheless, we live in hope of a successful conclusion to this thorough investigation.

This is an interesting and appropriate development.

I think this whole thing took a sinister turn when the "internal investigation" developed into nothing. The same political forces that intervened to have the drink driving case quashed had the investigation quashed.

O'Dea has no shame. He is easy to get quotes from when its about something trivial like the advertising on his pub but when the real questions need to be answered he is out of town. Public representation at its finest.

You should know better than to quote the radio. That's a sure sign of a liar. ©ymmek
