Micháel Martin wants to harvest votes form 80,000 so called front-line workers which includes Gardai, Nurses, and Emergency Medical Technicians.

Michaél wants to pretend that the State does not need to cut the wages of Frontline Shift workers
by so much, even though they are making a fortune from shift allowance and overtime.

Leaders’ Questions | Fianna Fáil

Michael thinks it is very dangerous to be a Garda and that they are a special case, implying that there is some way to avoid cutting their pay. Actually it is more dangerous to be a farmer than a Garda!

Michael wants to look after the Gardai as so many of them vote for Fianna Fáil. The logical outcome of Michael's position is that more must be cut form public sector workers who do not get premium pay if he is to avoid cutting premium pay for shift-workers.

Michael has also forgoten he was second in command to Bertie Ahern and Brian Cowen when they wrecked the State and it's finances.

You are an awful FF hater with no real sense of right or wrong. A silly, bigoted, small timer. EEjit!
Michael knows deep down that if 80,000 Front line workers are to keep their premium pay the other 210,000 public sector workers must have bigger pay cuts! He won't admit that though!

All public service workers the higher level ones and those with long service need to have their wages whacked (those at the top about 60%) and increMENTAL increases done away with and alowances revisited!
Not only has Meehole forgotten he was a collaborator in destroying this economy (as the current administration is!) and in enabling acts such as cutting the blind persons' pension and the minimum wage, but the general public seem to forgotten as well!

Not even 10 posts in and I see about 3 attempts to derail the thread.

Michael Martin knows that being the party that acknowledges large parts of the public sector are overpaid and need to be tackled further will garner further votes from the private sector workers.

If FF genuinely plan to properly and effectively tackle the PS sector then they have my vote!

Even if true and it isn't, that would make him 3rd in command.

There can't be many people who can't get past 2 without making a bollix of it, but well done you.

Ah the usual tonic response. Ignore the OP, and just hurl childish personal insults.

Surely it is with good reason that FF are hated by so many. We are in a mess that is out of control and it was because of bad, bad management and the wrong people in the important positions of power and finance placed there by FF. You have to understand the hatred and try and address the fact. Martin was part of the last fiasco and if he had been leadership material he would have ousted Cowen earlier and thus redeem himself somewhat, reality is he did nothing.

I honestly have no idea why anybody would listen to Martin with his political track record of something like 14 years as a minister with the last shower. But on he goes spouting populist claptrap and apparently garnering public support. Go figure.
