Fiach Kelly in the IT 23/02/2017:

It is believed Fine Gael has about 24,000 party members, with 2,000 in Dublin. The remainder are based in clusters around the country, such as Mayo, Sligo, Cavan, and Longford-Westmeath. TDs in those constituencies would be expected to influence their own members such as if, for example, Minister for Arts Heather Humphreys declared for Varadkar. Longford-Westmeath’s Peter Burke is understood to favour Varadkar.

Only 21,000 were registered when the leadership election took place.

Did FG lose 3000 members in the space of 4 months?

More smokes and mirrors, FG have just over 20,000 members , half of which are possibly paper members.
Of that 10k only a small percentage are active, i would suggest in the case of their local constituency of Dublin Bay North have just over 200 members i'm told, the real truth is less than 20 people do all the work in the whole constituency, and on average only 10% attend their meetings. So it is not that they lost members they never had them to start with. It's been a total lie to hoodwink there few paid members. They need their slaves to keep the whole "Ponzi" show on the road.
They need the fees from the membership , that i gather have just gone up BTW.
They need these people to be extras at there waste of time meetings, in FG the opinion of an ordinary member counts for little.
They need these people to keep buying raffle tickets or support their quiz nights or golf fundraisers or indeed the breakfasts they do.
Given its potential for self-advancement/ enrichment/ agrandisement politics is really a very minority sport in Ireland isnt it?

Granted actually becoming an elected politician is heavily weighted against those without familial links, especially outside urban areas, but becoming a mover and shaker seems to be no more difficult, statistically based on the above numbers, than elevation to a divisional GAA board ( let alone county ,national or provincial one).

The talent decreases with an ever shrinking pool of guys and gals to chose from.

No members=no Councillors=no TDs or Senators.

Leo, get your gun!
We are apprehensive of an excessive growth of the Party, because careerists and charlatans, who deserve only to be shot, inevitably do all they can to insinuate themselves into the ranks of the ruling party. - Lenin

Leo is nothing more then a fake leader, he bought the title, his own members dont want him, the public dont want him. Its just a little charade from FG, as they try cling on to power for a bit longer.
You are a shinner

Fine Gael have done nothing but embarrass themselves and are slowly succumbing to the rise of Sinn Féin in the south.

Not propaganda -- Simply fact.

perhaps or maybe it was a lie by FG, the whole notion of branches is insane, they are a pointless exercise , instead of sitting around in pubs allowing people to talk hot air, would the nation not be better served if they done something worthwhile,
Fine Gael? Making stuff up? Nah. That'd never happen.

Do you mean like draw up lists of Fianna Fáil voters to knock off the Register?
Adding new Blueshirts to the register?
Bringing issues to local minor politicians?
etc.

That would be about the height of it - no wonder 15000 people have walked away from being members of such a party.

Those missing FG members repeatedly breathe tested before they exited to Coveney cove in the Grenadines.

Every party inflates their numbers. Aspiring politicians regularly sign their friends and family up, and pay for their membership, these people never turn up except to selection conventions.

It still looks ill when over half your political party membership are ballot stuffers who don't even show up to stuff ballots. No wonder FG and their media allies are so silent on the subject.

FG the half mounted gentry of Ireland, all the arrogance of parish pump bullies, fit to bury children in septic tanks and export other people's children as a means of social engineering.
Such role models as bank defaulted Garret and papal knight Bruton
