Early this year, part of Donnybrook HQ is to brought forward for sale. Given the ongoing financial difficulties which has impacted on the ability of RTE to invest in its infrastructure, RTE have given the go ahead for Savills to manage the sale. A portion of under-utilised land on the Donnybrook site, west of the radio centre being sold will not however solve all of RTE's financial problems. I throw the floor open as to what the site should used for, all suggestions welcome. RTÉ to sell off part of its Donnybrook HQ in the coming months

Presumably they're getting rid of the left wing, to fit into this Trump era?

Great news. They know if the licence fee goes up there will be a backlash which would destroy RTÉ. this will only buy them some time.

The only bad thing about this sale is that the proceeds will be used to pay and maintain the obscene salaries.

Sell off RTE.
Sell off the land.
End the licence fee.

Good riddance to the whole shebang.

My personal suggestion is for 4 blocks of 20 storey's plus, 1 to house students, 1 to house refugees/asylum seekers, 1 to house homeless people and 1 to house a casino/hoor house, a mixed use development with vision!

Edit something like this to match the height of the aerial, it will blend in beautifully with the 2 storeys dwellings with ample sized garden space.

I say the government turns it into a new maximum security prison.

Just to píss of the D4 set.

That, or a high density social housing project for a new influx of "Syrian refugees".

They won't say how much land they're selling or for how much money because of "commercial sensitivities".

Run that by me again.

A capital idea.

The proposed sell off is just tinkering with the problem. Tubridy, O'Callaghan and co need to embrace the new realities and commit to new 21st century facilities in a 21st century location accessible to the whole country not just to a few well paid south Dubliners. Near the Red Cow Roundabout is a very good location with some very suitable much cheaper property that could be quickly modified for TV and radio purposes.

Pity RTE cant be sold off and privatised, so we dont have to spend a fortune to watch mostly crap.
