Ron Paul Calls on United Nations (Which He Doesn't Believe In) to Confiscate RonPaul.Com
Ron Paul Calls on United Nations (Which He Doesn't Believe In) to Confiscate RonPaul.Com

In 2008, a group of Ron Paul supporters founded RonPaul.com, a Ron Paul fan-site that became one of the leading sources for information about and support for the perennial Libertarian presidential candidate. The creators of the site "put our lives on hold and invested 5 years of hard work into Ron Paul, RonPaul.com and Ron Paul 2012." His presidential campaign fell short, but the enthusiasm lived on as supporters continued to rally around this free enterprise Messiah.

Yesterday morning, Ron Paul repaid their support by filing a complaint with the World Intellectual Property Organization, an agency of Paul's much-reviled United Nations, seeking the expropriation of both RonPaul.com and RonPaul.org from his supporters without any compensation.
Paul wanted the website - and it's very valuable mailing list - for free.

The legal owners said no... you can have the site, for free, but the mailing list which is the product of hard work - and which we own - will cost $250K (a little over $1 a head).

Paul rejected that offer and sued... trying to get the bad ol' UN to force his supporters' hand.

Bwhahahaha...

Not only did Paul lose both domain name disputes, but he was also found guilty of "reverse domain name hijacking," which is essentially being found guilty of wasting the court's time.
A less gloating overview can be found here:
Ron Paul loses disputes over RonPaul.com and RonPaul.org domain names - Domain Name Wire
and here:
Breaking: Ron Paul found guilty of reverse domain name hijacking - Domain Name Wire

The owners had offered to sell RonPaul.com to Paul but also offered to give him RonPaul.org as an alternative if Paul didn’t want to buy the .com. Since Paul filed a UDRP against RonPaul.org after the owner offered to give it to him for free, the panel found the case to be reverse domain name hijacking.
Lol-tastic.

Earth shattering news...

Nothing like flogging a dead horse though.

You should concentrate your fire on his son who is a front-runner for the 2016 GOP nomination.

There's a few things that need to be taken into consideration here:

For a start, ICANN were expected to enforce their own rules on cybersquatting from the beginning. Secondly, there was only one option as the sites were registered not in the US but Australia and so it was the international arbitration option that could only be used in finding a solution. There's a lot of grey areas and it's not as clear cut as the OP, whom is biased, lays out.

Having said that, I am not the kind of person to follow Paul off a cliff. Where he's wrong, he's wrong. And where he;s right, he's right.

Lol... the guy who pretended he was an independent ophthalmology licensing board - and then lied and claimed he was actually licensed by the REAL licensing board, until he was caught by a reporter, then he claimed he was really doing it all for values reasons...

Rand has about as much chance of getting the nod as Sarah Palin has of reading and understanding an entire issue of Newsweek.

ACTUALLY.

The site offered him the domain, and ALSO offered him RonPaul.org, for free... he rejected them.

He instead tried to sue to get the valuable mailing list for free... but of course, once he'd rejected the offer of the free site, suing to get it was a waste of everyone's time...

And endlessly lambasting courts, law enforcement, the UN and international treaties for being everything from unconstitutional, to unpatriotic, to illegal, he then tried to use them to steal others property...

Typical Libertarian really.. I hate stuff until it suits me to like it...

I hope he does get it. It would be the most embarrassing Presidential Campaign since Barry Goldwater in '64.

Scraping the bottom of the barrel....

Watch people who never seen the Benghazi disaster as in any way newsworthy, go into mad excitement over this.

Rand Paul is a dope who is seen by many Ron Paul supporters as a sell-out... remember all the paranoid Paultards claiming that Paul was being robbed... by Romney? they all saw Rand cosying up to Romney after pappa Paul was crushed and haven't forgiven him... hilarity.

The OP's point that Ron doesn't "believe" in the UN is very very weak. I could say I don't believe is a state run police but if they create a monopoly there is nothing hypocritical about using them.
Does this mean we can start threads on every leftie politician that has private health insurance and sends their kids to private schools?

Repeat that once more: you don't believe in a state run police force, ie. you prefer privatised policing? :|
