Dublin – Ahead of his concert on Tuesday at Dublin’s 3Arena, Morrissey has fired off a letter on behalf of PETA thanking Michael Creed, Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine, for banning wild-animal circuses – and urging him to “continue on this progressive path by also outlawing fur farming”.

Even the notoriously anti-establishment Morrissey can find some praise for Fine Gael. Hopefully Creed continues the good work and bans fur farming like Morrissey suggests.

On the one hand I don't like wild animal circuses. On the other, Morrissey's been mad as a small cage full of brown bears for the past 20 years so him being on the side of something makes me suspicious of it.

Creed will have weighed this up carefully before making a decision. His famous electoral machine will have ascertained that there are more animal rights supporters to be gained in Cork North West than there are Fossets or Courtneys on the electoral register. :D

The British meeja and music press have turned on Moz a bit since his rather frank remarks on Islamic terrorism.

Morrissey sharply criticised Labour MP Andy Burnham for cowardly referring to the perpetrators of the Manchester Arena bombing as 'extremists'.

'Extremist what' demanded Moz. 'An extremist rabbit?'

Of course when it was the IRA they never had any problems with putting Irish in front of it but it can never be islamic its only ever just extremist and terrorist we must not judge them apparently despite them being very fast to link it to white supremacy as was the case with Anders Breivik who actually acted alone and not as a wider network as is generally the case with islamic terrorism.

Noel Gallagher once said Morrissey is by far the most craic in showbiz for someone to go for a chat over a meal or a drink with , because he has not got a good word to say about anyone.

Christ.

Fur farms, puppy farms, coursing. All legal. We're still completely barbaric in places.

I love seeing those pics of people coming out of shops with new fur coats getting covered in fake blood.

His problem is he's never grown up. Being an arrogant cantankerous sod who hates everyone is kind of endearing when you're young. If you're older it makes you the bar bore. Or a P.ie poster.
