There are grim news coming in from the Lone Star State where apparently a number of people have been killed at a mass shooting incident in Texas.

The incident occurred at a Baptist church in the south of the state, at Sutherland Springs near San Antonio.

Apparently, the shooter has been dealt with but social media suggest that the number of dead is high. People can check for themselves.

Newspaper: Sheriff says there were multiple deaths in Texas church shooting and shooter has been taken down - ABC News

Update at 20:12h:
At least 27 are dead.

Murdering your neighbours is an ancient cultural practice in the US. Is not for us to judge...

Madness, but nothing will be done, "thoughts and prayers with the victims" regurge and then move on to next massacre

And the Disaster Control team at the NRA settles in for another three day wonder until everyone accepts no change is possible....

Fudge on the menu in Washington DC.

All those good ol' Sunday Christians will be on social media with their #PrayForTexas hashtags.

It'll be forgotten by Tuesday. I've said it before: if Sandy Hook didn't soften their cold, dead hearts - nothing will.

It's either gun or immigration control lobby .

Personally I view the latter as of far greater importance.

Yes, probably something like a proposal for a 30 day waiting period for security checks on people with mental illness, before they can collect their sub machine gun

"That should keep the pussy asses appeased for a few weeks"

Sandy Hook was so horrendous, they had to invent a conspiracy theory that it didn't exist to appease their own guilt.

Buy shares in gun manufacturers - they always rise after a mass shooting.

Mass shooting - people buy guns expecting a crackdown on gun ownership - sales and profits increase for gun companies - no crackdown materialises - Mass shooting- ...

Texas is quite loose in Firearms control - they have a Licence to Carry system. By the sound of things the gunman wasn't resisted in the Church - I'd have thought some of them would have been armed. RIP and God help the injured and the various families.
That is how the argument normally goes...
